So a year ago at work I noticed that my makeup was doing that streak thing, which prompted me to also notice it was darker than my face … Ivory was too dark for my face…that sounds pretty crazy.
So I started pretending to be girlie and testing out makeups.
Now, you have to understand, in HS my makeup routine was a full face of loose powder, I looked like a geisha….I also owned a purple- pink lip stick….I poke myself with mascara and end up crying, I have never succeeded in putting eye liner on right, and I basically have been using revlon foundation for like 10 years and just sticking it over my dark eye circles and and chin and then running out the door.
Basically I have NO makeup sense what so ever.
My skin luckily is normal, with an occasional breakout here and there so I’ve gotten away with using makeup as a touch up until….29.
29 was the year it all changed.
Suddenly I noticed puffy eyes and lines that really should have waited a few months until I turned 30, and I realized I could no longer be that person who just stuck makeup under her eyes and tossed on some lip-gloss and run out the door.
This is hard for me, I’ve always looked about 16, to start looking run down and exhausted and 30 is a big change.
So adventures in makeup 1—-BB Cream (picture one) I decided since my skin is normal (not dry, not oily) that I would test out the BB cream world….but I could not be normal about this, oh no, I had to order my BB cream straight from Korea. I love the feel of my Misha BB cream but I realized it made me look grey instead of my usual ghostly white. In the picture of me and Gavin my face is a different color than the rest of my skin….plus I started to break out more, my skin not being used to being covered with makeup. I love the smell of the stuff though, and sometimes use it for weekends but it was not a success.
Adventures in makeup 2: I then went in the opposite direction, away from the wet BB cream to mineral foundation. Everyone raves about Bare Minerals and claim it looks so natural, like you aren’t wearing makeup—-sold! I’m very low key, natural no makeup look is perfect! But I must not be able to apply it property because I felt I could see it sitting on top of my skin all the time and my skin decided it no longer was normal after 30 years and became dry. Plus…as you can see from picture 2 I matched with golden fair which means instead of looking pinky grey I now looked a pale yellow. I felt like it was settling into lines I did t not know I had on my face even though my complexion looked perfect. I don’t think I was used to a full face like that. Not a winner yet.
I then decided to try Clinique because my grandmother used their moisturizer line. I liked the New Real one but I felt like it wore off and I had to keep applying it over and over.
In April I noticed the New CC cream, hoping it would be lighter than my BB cream that broke me out, but still have that nice Dewy coverage. Picture three is Clinique Moisture Color Correcting cream….very light was actually too light and light was too dark so I mix them and invented a new color I call “Melissa looks like a Chubby Snow White Porcelain doll."
It is hard to blend a bit, sort of sits on top of my skin, but that might be due my fancy new SPF moisturizer I have been using underneath. So I usually put it on, then apply my 10 tons of blush, blend….wander away to let it dry/set and then like 10 mins later come back and stand under a good light and buff in the parts that aren’t blended.
Once it’s on though it stays put, even through turbofire workouts.
I liked that when its on it basically looks like me but not exhausted looking. It also allows me to look alive because I can use extra blush without the blush looking streaky or caked on.
So I think I’ll stop the adventures for awhile and continue to play with my CC cream….chubby SnowWhite porcelain doll is a good look for me ;)
Typos will be fixed in the morning, it's 2M and I have 4 percent battery left...
