Chrisâ IG likes 29/07/2015
I donât always make sense of Chrisâ stories. And when I do, I usually donât comment on them here. (Iâm always hoping Michelle will do these kind of posts, because she does it so much more better.) But, oh, well...
These Chrisâ IG likes didnât make sense to me much, until I saw the key in another Tumblr post. Hedwig and the Angry Inch was celebrating a special âbirthdayâ on the same day, as Chris made these IG likes. And I realized it is the recurring theme in this story.
Britney and Christina 1994 (x)Â â There are two things here: the year and the girls.
The year: âHedwig became the storyâs protagonist when Trask encouraged Mitchell to showcase their earliest material in 1994 at NYCâs drag-punk club Squeezebox.â (x) I believe the exact date of this was actually 29th July. (Could be wrong.)
The girls: Two girls who were cast mates in a TV show where they performed musical numbers. Now just replace âgirlsâ with âguysâ and it starts sounding familiar somehow...Â
Blond and purple/pink wig (x) â Two gorgeous ladies in full-on drag make-up; one of them is wearing a blond wig, one pinkish purple wig. One with fair skin, one with darker skin. Reminds me of Darren and Rebecca and/or Taye Diggs.
I love you Dad (x) â In the picture, shiny, perhaps freshly washed car and beautifully painful love confession to dad. A shout-out to creators?! In the text, a message hinting: Do not mess with her, now or in the future. Hedwig should definitely not be messed with and perhaps a certain guy as well who may look cute and harmless. A guy who Chris knows very well.
Celebration and empowerment (x)Â â The theme of the IG pic is celebration and empowerment. Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the show that is celebrating âbirthdayâ and is empowering in itâs own way.
I could have perhaps said more on these. I could perhaps be a bit wrong, or even completely wrong, with my interpretation. If Iâm not totally off base, this shows in a way how Chrisâ life is. Even if Chris would like Hedwig on his own, without Darrenâs input, he couldnât just come out and congratulate openly, publicly. I can only imagine the reaction he would have received if he would have e.g. tweeted congrats & his appreciation for the show.
