it's so bullshit that the past tense of "pay" is "paid" and not "payed" but the past tense of "play" is "played" and not "plaid". that's its own goddamn word and it's said like "plad". and then "say" is "said" but it's not even said like "sayed" like "paid" is said "payed" it's just "sed". and "traitor" has the "trai" bit but then the past tense of "betray" is not "betraid" NO! it is "betrayed", which is traitorous in and of itself. english language when i fucking get you

I'm fuckin chewing on that one (1) alurox line bc like. The setup of the scene means there are so many possibilities for the past there. We know for certain that Olrox and Alucard know each other and that Olrox has saved Alucard's life in some way. But because of the circumstances we get so little else. And on the one hand I hate that we don't get anything else but on the other hand I LOVE that we don't get anything else bc the possibilities are so open.

Like, are they old flames that were never quite in love and they parted but on good terms but now Alucard has a hook in his gut seeing Olrox run for Mizrak like that? Did they break up screaming and smashing plates and even though Olrox saved Alucard's life again and Alucard thanks him their past is bitter in their mouths but nobody's going to mention that while Mizrak is bleeding out in Olrox's arms? Is Alucard a reminder for Olrox of a worse time? A better one? Has it been centuries since they last saw each other? Less than a decade? Did Alucard know Olrox was here beforehand and he's finally taking his chance to talk to him, even if for a short time? Or was he completely blindsided by Olrox's appearance and he has to hurry but he has to say something to acknowledge them?

WHO KNOWS. Because Mizrak is dying in front of them and there's a battle to be fought and there's no time for anything but that brief exchange - if it's even an exchange, because Olrox says nothing to Alucard. Which only creates more room for the potential of it all. I'm rubbing my hands together so delightedly over here.
