A/N: Sometimes it takes me 2 months to write something, sometimes it takes 15 minutes and some editing. This is the latter. I hope you enjoy!! I like this one a lot :) All my mistakes are my own! Also thank you @foodieforthoughtsâ for the picture of baby Henry/Will !
Warnings: fluff, absence of Henry but letâs be honest youâre here for Will
Read more of the tiny!au and my other works here!
âWill! I have your snack, darlingâ
You call out to the garden with a smile, setting out the sliced grapes and apple pieces in the Winnie the Pooh plate on the patio table, looking around the large expanse of green garden to try and find your little adventurer. You couldnât spot him, but you did spot a very bouncy Kal in the corner of the garden, and if you listened particularly hard, a peel of giggles was just considerably close by.
âWiiiill, are you playing in the mud? I thought Daddy had fenced this part of the garden off so you wouldn't get dirty again!â
Making your way towards Kal, he brushes against you, sniffing around your legs before heading back to the point of interest. That point being 2 year old Will, knee deep in mud. His overalls were splattered with wet sticky dirt, and there was most definitely some moss in his brown curls and- oh, lovely - one of his wellington boots about ten feet from where he was currently standing.
Just wonderful.
âMama? I stuckâ
âOh Will...what happened honey?â
âIs Kalâ he points to the fluffy dog, who looks back to you and sits right beside your feet, trying to prove his own innocence in this mess, while your hands remain placed on your hips. You were going to get to the bottom of this, even if Kal couldnât speak, and Will had the odd aversion to the truth now and again. A typical 2 year old with those wild Cavill genes in him, meant you faced very unique situations each day you left Will and Kal out to play together.
âOhh, so Kal made you go into the mud?â you try and avoid the grin creeping onto your face, watching as Will again tried to unstick himself from the pile of mud and marsh he had waded through.
âYeah Mama. Kal ball!â his big innocent blue eyes widened in his explanation, as he turned his body to his left, pointing again and emphasising his point; âKalâs ball stuck Mamaâ
You focused your gaze to where the finger of a small meaty fist was pointing, and realised exactly how this had all come about.
Last weekend, Henry had been throwing around a ball with Kal, playing fetch in the early hours of the morning before Will, and eventually you, woke up for the rest of the day. While waiting to be picked up and held in your loving arms each morning, WIllâs nursery provided the perfect place to watch the goings-on outside, the crib firmly against the wall beside a window with the best view in the house of a world just waiting to be explored. And on that bright Saturday morning, Will had watched Henry throw the ball further than expected, and right into the mud patch.
Henry had only got his feet dirty in trying to rescue the ball from the marsh, which until that point had gone unnoticed by all in the household - including Will.
Now? Will, ever the explorer alongside his trusted best friend Kal, had been drawn to this new area of the garden, somewhere exciting, somewhere that his absolute hero - Daddy - had been. It hadnât been Willâs fault that the ball got stuck too far into the mud, and it hadnât been his fault that he got stuck in there himself, losing a wellington boot in the process.
âMama, I stuckâ
âYes I can see darling, were you trying to fetch Kalâs ball?â
He nods, the curls atop his head bouncing with his movements.
âLike daddy did. Want ball to play. But I stuck.â
You look to Kal, and you sense that he knows he is not innocent in this either. He knows the marsh is messy and muddy, and he knows that Will has no business going near it and getting coated in mud in the first place. Itâs all very well for Henry to do something, but both Kal and Will believe that anything Henry does, must be okay for Will too. It always gives Will a bit of adventure during his day, and Kal an excuse to be a little naughty while on tiny-Henry patrol. Evidently, the outdoor blocks and exploration board that Henry had taken the time to diligently craft, did not cut it any more.
Taking a few steps forward, careful to avoid the worst of the squelching puddles, and sinking too far in yourself, you hoist Will out of the garden, making sure he has at least one boot on. You would save the other one soon. Failing that, it would be a job for his father.
âMama, the ball!â you hear his cries from over your shoulder as you carry him into the house.
âWeâll get it later Will. Youâre going to have the worldâs biggest bubble bath. And when Daddy gets home, I think heâll love to hear about your adventures.â
Maybe now Henry would finally put those muscles to use, twinned with his DIY building skills, and close that marsh off before your next wild one is on the way.

if you ever decide to publish anything, iâd love to support you freya!!! I hope youâre having a wonderful day đđđ
Thank you so much @cavillary babe, itâs just a thought. I have a bunch of ideas running around and some original work outlined. But the road from there to self-publishing may be a rocky one. :)
I enjoy writing and I will probably keep doing that for the rest of my life so that will never stop.
A/N: Inspired by this video that makes me weep with its cuteness! I just had to write this okay đ„șđ„șđ„ș This is in the same universe as Homeward Bound, which happens after this story. Feel free to give it a read after this, if you havenât already! ALSO should note that the lovely @ohmygoodieâ is my Sy partner in crime and without them this fic would not be made possible :)
Warning: mention of operations/hospitals, and a whole lot of fluff!
It was a simple procedure and so it hadn't worried you too much, other than the usual fears when a loved one is under the knife while in the hands of trained doctors. Syâs hernia had been authorised for operation only five minutes into the doctorâs appointment you had all but dragged him to, and scheduled for 4 days later. Not really much time to prepare mentally, but you knew it was necessary with your big bear of a man in pain. Despite the painkillers prescribed, he was walking with a limp and groaning in bed for all the wrong reasons.
In the waiting room, you and his Ma kept busy during the 45 minute wait by looking through magazines, talking about how the Captainâs quality of life will improve, and what kind of minor jobs youâll have him do around the house while heâs recovering as you continue to work.
âI hope the recovery isnât as long as some people have said. I know for a fact heâll not want to be cooped up all day. If heâs anything, heâs stubbornâ you sigh, knowingly.
Ma smiles, looking at you pointedly, knowing that she is in the presence of the only other soul who knows what is best for her son. âHe knows better now that his health is his wealth. Heâs got a lot more riding on being well now. After all, itâs not just him heâs gotta be there for anymore.â
âYeah, I mean I always tell him, heâs not 25 anymore. Or even 30. Iâll need you to back me up, he does anything you say. Iâm his equal, youâre his Mom.â
You both laugh a little, hers warm and kind, while yours tinges with the remaining hopeful nerves of an army Captainâs wife. You donât like not knowing about your Sy, especially since you spent all those years apart, not knowing if he was safe, or even alive. The waiting, in any capacity, is the hardest part.
Youâre flipping through a random tabloid magazine, when the surgeon in charge walks through to the waiting room.
âEverything went really well with Captain Syverson. Heâs coming to from the anaesthetic and asking for his Ma?â
Ma grins before sucking her teeth between her lips watching as your mouth drops. You both move from the waiting area to follow the surgeon towards where your husband is resting. You speak under your breath, only wanting Syâs Ma to hear you; âI hope he still remembers how to grovel after this.â
Ma enters the room with you following her, arriving only a couple more corridors along from where youâd last seen him earlier that morning. He may not have asked for you but you were going to see Sy whether he wanted it or not. A grand push of the door allows it to swing open, and suddenly there he is. A little disoriented but has a large dopey smile plastered on his face as soon as he sees his Ma. His heavy head lolls to one side as he rests it on the plush hospital pillow.
âHey Maâ he groans out as she bends over her large son to give his forehead a kiss, taking his hand in hers. He spends a moment just gazing at her for a while, the love he has for her evident on his face, as she tells him that everything went well, and that he can go home tomorrow.
Itâs only after this tender mother and son moment, that he notices you.
âMa.... why ya bringing a beautiful girl here when Iâm like this...oh god Iâm not wearing underwear Ma!â
His feeble attempt at trying to cover himself means that you actually end up seeing far more of him than you expected. Nothing you hadnât seen before, but it definitely hasn't happened in front of his own mother before. The whole situation makes you blush and giggle a little as you try your best to avoid eye contact with Ma. You can only imagine the look on her face, and you donât want to get any more involved with Syâs naked form than you need to right now.
Rather than put you and your poor Sy through any further embarrassment, Ma speaks up.
âOh darlinâ, this is y/n. You remember her, right?â
And while heâs listening - or at least pretending to listen to his Ma fussing over him again - heâs just staring at you, gazing in awe as if you were the one to hang the stars in the sky.
âYou are.... so prettyâ he slurs, making you break out a genuine smile that he mirrors, glad that he was the one to make you look even more pretty.
âWell thanks handsome. How do you feel?â you perch on the edge of the bed and hold his hand. To him, the gesture feels warm and inviting - even if he doesn't know you, he recognises something about you in the comfort that you bring.
âFeel like shit. Oh fuck i said âshitâ in front of the ladyâ he whines again, scrunching his eyes closed as hangs his head in shame. It looks like he might even cry with the realisation that heâs made such a foolish impression of himself. It takes Ma shushing him and making him take a sip of juice from his bedside to calm down, dabbing his face with a cloth when his juice spills from his mouth.
âOh Logan Daniel Syverson...what did they do to ya?â she lightly scolds as she helps clean up the mess heâs unknowingly created around him. Thatâs your Sy, a hurricane of mess that somehow fits into order just how he likes it.
You giggle a little more at his shameful expression, before he refocuses, giving you his undivided attention once more.
âHow is it that ya know my Ma and weâve never met? Or have we? âCause I think iâd remember a face like yoursâÂ
âWell...â you start, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear to let him see your entire face, hoping it would jog his memory. As you do so, the ring on your fourth finger glints in the hospital light, and for the first time since you've entered the room, heâs noticed.
âOh...man...knew a girl like you would be snatched up already. Whoever has the honour of being yours is a very lucky man.â He smiles softly, a wistful look in his eye, while makes you realise that you canât wait for the drugs to leave his system, you have to remind him who you are and who he is, right this very moment.
âSy honey... weâre married. Youâre my husband, and Iâm your wife. I think the drugs are making you more than a bit loopy.â
Itâs his turn for his jaw to drop, his eyes are unblinking as he takes in what youâve just said. He turns sharply - more than his doctor would have probably liked - to his Ma, and then back to you, and then his Ma again, waiting for one of you to burst out laughing at the prank you surely must be playing on him.
âWha-? A wife? I have a wife?â you nod and he exhales a deep breath of air in amazement.Â
âYOUâRE my wife? Really?â you nod again and Ma smiles at you as she watches the scene of Logan meeting you all over again.
âAm I still in the army? Iâm a Captain ya knowâ
âYou left just a few months ago. You still work in the local camps, of course. You like it there, and youâre home every night and most weekends.â
âDoes Ma like you?â You donât even get a chance to finish as he turns to his mother âDo you like her? is she nice? Does she like your new kitchen? I built it yâknow.âÂ
You knew when you met, dated, and married him, that Sy was a Mommaâs boy. He loves his mother so much, that her opinion will always mean the world to him.Â
Ma nods âYou two are the sweetest couple. Sheâs the best addition to the family, gives you a run for your money alright. Sheâs my new favourite.â You get a soft hug from her as she says this, with her wrapping her arm around your shoulders and pulling you close. Sheâs always felt so grateful that her Logan found you, because my goodness did he love you ferociously, and he needed you in his life. You were the making of him, and the whole Syverson clan will forever be grateful to you for it.
"And where did we get married? If we really are married.â He continues his line of questioning.
âAt the ranch, on your familyâs land. it was such a special day. We had the reception there too. And we went to Italy for our honeymoon.â
Sy is basking in every word you say, praying it to be true, as if he could will it into existence if it hadnât already happened, wanting badly to remember sunset kisses and italian food and beach days all spent with you. He perks up at the last thing you say, taken by complete surprise.
âHoneymoon?! Oh my god have we...ya know..?â A blush fades over Syâs face, and even though you love his Ma, you really wish she wasnât finding out so many details about your personal life today, like how your son rails you on the regular in many ways, and in many places. He must somehow remember or at least accurately imagine your past endeavours, as he grins like a little shit.Â
You smack his arm, lightly but with a firm hand.
âBe quiet, or the whole ward will know about our sex lifeâ you threaten. âYes weâve had sex. iâd hope so given that we have a kid on the way.â
If Ma had had to deal with her son getting horny over his ânewâwife, she was being fully compensated for it as she witnessed him fall head over heels in love with you, all over again.
âA kid?...Tell me ya not messing with me...are we really- I-â he swallows and his tears come even easier than before âWeâre havinâ a baby?â With the sudden realisation, he turns to his Ma. âThis beautiful woman right hereâs havinâ my kid, Ma?â He looks between the two of you again, watching as you both nod and beam from ear to ear.
âYou know you cried just as much when i told you for the first time too. i promise when the drugs are out your system itâll all make sense again.â
Sy smiles, clutching your hand in his warm palm, almost scared to let go as the door is knocked and he feels you might be taken away. Instead, itâs a welcome visitor.
âHey doc,â Sy greets the man who reenters the room, now freshly out of scrubs  to visit his patient - who if anything is now simply love sick, no hernia to be found. âThis is my wife, and sheâs having a baby.â he looks back to you with a quirk of his eyebrow âMy baby?â You roll your eyes and he confirms it; âmy baby.â
âOh, congratulations...again.â
The doctorâs evaluation and explanations donât take long, and while Sy is being informed, you start rubbing your belly as a form of self-comfort. You will need to remind your child that while their father looks incredibly stern and impossibly large, he is silly and goofy and already loves them with his entire being. Over the course of the afternoon, Sy talks with you while the anaesthetic wears off. It turns out they had given him a pretty high dosage based on his height and muscle mass, so he would be out of action for a couple of hours at least.
âOh, i have your ringâ you pipe up before he starts getting too sleepy again, taking the thick gold band off of the necklace around your neck, placing it on his finger carefully.
âThat feels better alreadyâ he sighs, as he begins to doze in and out of consciousness. Before he closes his eyes once more to rest peacefully, a small tear slides down his cheek, which you of course, notice. Sy has cried maybe 5 times in the time youâve known him and three of those times have been in this very room.
âHoney whatâs wrong? Are you in pain? i can call the doctor-âÂ
âNo iâm fine iâm fine i just-â he sniffs and tries to clear his throat from the sad, heavy pain he feels in his chest. âIâm gonna be real sad when I wake up from this dream. What if I canât find you when I wake up?â
Oh your sweet, silly man.
âBear itâs not a dream, Iâll be right here when you get up properly and we can go home and cuddle and Iâll heat up your favourite meal. Iâll be right there with you.â
âAnd the baby?â he asks, eyes wide. almost nervous to ask.
âWell they have to come too, they're with me. We can look at their pictures again so you can get reacquainted. And Aika will be so happy youâre back. Weâve been gone the whole day.â
âAika!â your husband perks up, âOh Aika, man....I love that dog..â
âI know you do bear, you just get some rest for now and then we can go home.â
Before you know it, heâs fallen back to sleep, his mouth wide open as he slumps against his pillow, completely out of it.
Itâs dark outside when Sy opens his eyes again, watching as his Ma passes you a small herbal tea in the dimly lit hospital room. Technically visiting hours are over, but no one was going to argue with the Captainâs family. You smile, and he feels like he can finally relax, in your presence
âWell, arenât you a sight for sore eyesâ he growls lowly, and you look up at him from your phone, beaming in surprise, glad that your husband had woken up feeling a bit more like himself.
âOh hello againâ you smile and squeeze his hand, his slow blinking already indicating a much clearer mind, and that he knows exactly who you are.
âAgain? Whatâd I miss?â
âThe drugsâ he stops you mid-sentence for a sweet kiss, acting as though a minute more without your lips would be the source of his downfall. âMmmh, the drugs made you so loopy, it was the sweetest thing, Sy.â You grin as he pulls you up beside him on the bed.
He raises his eyebrows, clearly with no recollection of any of the past events. Yet still, he smiles.
âYeah? Howâs baby?â he holds you close to his side, wrapping an arm around your waist so he can cover your tummy with his palm.
âTheyâre great. Glad to have daddy back and sane.â
You swear that as you say that, he starts tearing up again, this time however he doesnât let them fall. He was openly weeping earlier, but you wonât tell him that. Not yet.
âDamnit. Must be something in these drugs they got me on.â
âMm-hmm sure bear.â
You stay close that evening, both curled up on a hospital bed that is already quite a tight fit for your husband alone. But as always, he makes it work. Youâre half on top of him, both of you fast asleep, when the nurses come to do their rounds. Ma had left just after he had woken up, sneaking off into the night to let the rest of the family know how her most middle son is keeping after the operation. Youâd cuddled and doted on each other until youâd fallen asleep, Sy following not long after as he bid goodnight to you and your precious cargo with a soft kiss to your lips, and protective rub of your stomach.
He counts himself more than lucky to have something so good, that it would pain him to forget. He was living the life that heâd been too scared to ever dream of, and he couldnât be more grateful.
it had been the scariest moment of your life, easily
the culmination of henryâs birthday had led to a very welcome pregnancy, with you being coddled and adored by your husband as you grew your sweet unborn child
your unborn baby boy - as youâd found out only a couple of months ago - had been growing really well, on track to be a healthy 7-8lbs (3.5kg)
the doctors had noted the babeâs size, but after the first time Henry walked through the door at the 12 week scan, they realised what they were dealing with
it actually all started to make sense
but the scariest part, was that your sweet boy, due for the end of February had began his mission into the world 6 weeks early, during the first week of the coldest January on record
luckily you had both Henry and Kal at home to rush to your aid while youâd thought you were experiencing braxton hicks contractions
but it wasn't that. it was the real deal
youâre already in active labour when you get to the hospital
youâd held your husbandâs hand and wept, not only in pain but with the fear of being âtoo early, heâs too early Henâ
all he could do was wipe your tears and reassure you that everything was going to be okay. even if he couldnt be certain himself
Baby boy Cavill comes in at 4lbs 4oz (2kg) and is whisked away after you spend just a brief moment with him
he gets some checks, all under Henryâs watchful eye as you make him promise to stay with your son, whose tiny lungs help him to scream and cry out at the suddenly bright, cold world
youâre both alright, but they want to keep you and your son in for a couple of days to make sure heâs stable
Henry has had to call a few people, only the important ones, to let them know the news, doing so quickly so that he doesnât have to be away from you or his baby boy for long
everyone had said that your baby would be chunky, given your husbandâs size, but when you see them in the little hospital crib, theyâre so little
it hurts your heart to see how small and fragile he is, but both you and Henry know that he is in the safest place he can be
heâs given a little red knitted hat to wear so that the nurses and doctors know heâs one of the little preemie babies on the ward, and thus needs some extra care and attention
you lean over him in his little box crib, gazing at him all the while, lifting him out to hold and feed when allowed
as soon as youâre given the green light, he is in your arms for hours, settling down and just existing peacefully and contently
Henry is just SO big, particularly when leaning his body over the crib, using the tip of his finger to hold his little manâs hand
he likes to have small conversations with him
âAlready repping our rugby team with that hat, sonâ
Henryâs held him as much as he can already, sitting in the big chair by the bed you lay and rest in, having some skin to skin cuddles
you get a lot of visits from the nurses when he does that
youâll doze off and wake up to Henry chatting away to the little boy on his chest, a fistful of chest hair in his grasp
âyou are lucky youâre cute and brand new because this is quite sore for daddyâ
his son is the size of his hand, and between his large palms heâs fragile and little and just the apple of his eye
all his nieces and nephews have been upwards of 7 pounds
so now Baby Boy feels even smaller in his massive arms.
His forearm is bigger than his baby - he canât believe the little miracle that is his boy
his strong little man
all the clothes you'd brought in the hospital bag swamp him so you need to take a couple offered from the hospital and a pack from the hospital gift shop until you can get more preemie clothes
yes, even newborn size is too big and it makes your heart ache
Henry picks up some Winnie the Pooh items from the shop, and a little stuffed Pooh Bear for his baby boy
after three days you get the all clear to take him home. Heâs fine, just tinier than you and Henry - and your families - had anticipated
you walk out happily, still a little in pain but choosing instead to revel in the delight that your sweet boy is okay
Henry has the hospital bag and the car seat with baby in tow
He is minute compared to the large clunky car seat. Somehow he looks ten times smaller and even more precious, holding his own little hands with a soft pout on his lips
he looks just like Henry when he sleeps
you watch Henry click the car seat in expertly, knowing heâs practiced in the garage many times already. Heâd always wanted to make sure his sweet boy is safe
Henry drives home ten miles below the speed limit
âit feels like weâre stealing a child from the hospitalâ âwell this one came out of me so i think itâs okayâ
the car finally rolls into the drive and stops carefully outside the grand house, and you squeeze Henryâs hand
Baby is sleeping soundly, having not even moved through the duration of the car journey despite you feeling every stone and pothole the car drove over, worried for his safety
Henry carries him into the house in the carseat, resting it gently on the floor in the hallway of your home
for now, itâs just you three, as Kal will arrive later with a very excited family member who youâre grateful to for taking Kal while youâd left in such a rush a few days ago
Henry pulls you in close for a hug, resting his head on yours and wrapping his whole being around you
the past few days have been possibly the scariest in his entire life
but theyâve also been the happiest, up there with your wedding, and the time you took him to his favourite restaurant that was a 3 hour drive away, on his only cheat day that month
after a quiet moment in each othersâ embrace, silently feeling each and every emotion together, flooding with relief as you rest on each other for support and love, your son is unpacked from the car seat
heâs like a soft tiny starfish and you coo at his sweet, sleepy face
you carry him because Henry feels like a âclumsy giantâ holding his boy, especially when not in the comfort of a large chair where he can remain stable
you hold him and look at his little foot tag from the hospital
âand here we thought we had an extra few weeks for his name...he needs one soon though, he canât be Baby Boy Cavill foreverâ
âcanât he?â you hear Henryâs deep voice from over your shoulder and you catch a glimpse at him looking ever so adoringly at your son, as you tear your eyes from the sweet newborn for only just a moment
itâs then that you confirm that your boys definitely have the same faceÂ
Baby boy has his daddyâs eyes and chin and you are in love
âyou know he will grow up one day. We canât keep him this size forever. i wish we could though, he smells so goodâ
to which Henry chuckles and smells the babyâs head, in complete agreement
later on, baby boy lays on his fatherâs chest. Henry holds them delicately in place, as though they were made of glass
he can nod his head and smell that wonderful baby smell, and know that this little mass of human perfection is completely healthy, and all his
and should he hear a little squeak, as he adjusts his son to stay comfortable for another hour, his immediate reaction is a soft âoh son, itâs okay. Daddyâs hereâÂ
with you curled up beside him, falling asleep with ease after such a strenuous labour and prolonged stay at the hospital, Henry realises he will always get to feel this lucky with his little family by his side
he just doesn't know what on earth heâs done to deserve it
and Kal will be such a wonderful big brother, he can already tell. Him and baby are going to be best friends
Baby takes milk like a champ, theyâll be happy and healthy and plump in no time, especially thanks to Henryâs pep talks during feeds or the baby massage sessions he insists on implementing with his large, gentle soothing hands
a few days later, it is decided that Baby boy Cavill is called Will -Â youâre adamant on Will not William -Â but heâs often called Junior by Henry, and always Baby Boy to his loving mama
A/N: I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!! All the love for our sweet bear and Henry of course! And baby Will my new fave đ
Warnings: Premature labour, a LOT of fluffÂ
as a family of three, you, Henry and Kal were the dream team
Kal had of course taken to you the moment youâd met him
a lot of the time Henry claimed you were more loving towards the big bear than him; âIâm your actual boyfriend, remember?â
Kal naturally being part of your inevitable wedding
hell, he was likely part of the proposal, as role of The Distractor, while Henry would wait on bended knee behind you
Kal knew that he didnât have a place on the big kingsize bed, but that never stopped him from standing by the closed door of the bedroom whenever you and Henry were occupying it, waiting for either an invitation for cuddles, or for your day to start so he could have some company
and any available snacks, of course
On Henryâs birthday, just over a year into your marriage, youâd bribed the Akita with an extra large prime rib steak in the kitchen so that he could stay content downstairs, while you kept Henry more than content upstairs
It was only 3 weeks later that Kal started to press his large head onto your stomach
at first it was endearing, but over time he became persistent and Henry often had to get him to heel so that he would keep out of your way
it was only one missed period later that you realised your fluffy companion might have been onto something
with a fairly tame schedule for now, you and Henry had stopped ânot tryingâ for a baby, deciding instead to just let it happen when it happened
and somehow Kal had been the first to find out that it had indeed, happened
over the next few weeks and months, it wasnât just your large, concerned husband that was protective over you, but your bear of a dog too
by the time you were showing, Kal was in full guard dog form, growling at anyone who expressed any form of interest towards your growing belly
even Henry was on the receiving end of a warning growl now and then
but most of the time, Kal knew that Henry was likely safe, based on the look of love he often saw on his ownerâs face towards you, and the special little moments his two humans have together with whatever is blooming within you
any strangers that get close to you would face the wrath of Kal because if whatever is happening gets this much love and attention, then it must be special to his Henry and his Mama
Kal hangs around you a lot, favouring you over Henry, especially in your last trimester
which makes Henry pout because damn it, Kal is taking his place most of the time
âOnly because iâm carrying a little you.â youâd reassure your husband âheâll be back to his Henry-loving ways after babyâs born.â
Kal often lays his big head on your bump when Henry isnât there because he knows youâll let him get away with it
but if Henry spots him he receives a âKal, off!â just for your goofy husband to rest his own head there instead, chattering to the baby about things that sometimes have you falling asleep
his voice is soothing, yes
but his video game talk is just the perfect soundtrack for a nap
you get slower and slower as you enter the last few months
soon its just Kal and Henry going for walks together at the park
your bear always whined to you, pawing at your lap as you curl up on the sofa, while Henry would attempt to nod him over to the door
âMumma canât come today, sheâs staying here with the baby. But sheâll call us if anything happensâ
You get a soft kiss on the lips from one member of your family, and a lick on the hand from the fluffier one
Did you know it was Kal who saved the day, the morning you went into early labour?
youâd winced at a small twinge of pain, and then groaned out loud, taken by surprise as you had just been peeling some apples to be made into a stew
the sun was rising slowly, glinting the dewy grass out in the garden, your favourite view from the kitchen window
Henry was in his study, a floor up, with headphones on, completely oblivious to what was happening downstairsÂ
clinging to a table, youâd started to feel tight pain across your belly, issuing you with a mild dose of panic
of course, as Kal has been by your side for the past few months, heâs right there in an instant
he rushes over to you, sensing that something is wrong, watching you as you attempt to sit down on the floor to try and take control of the pain
he had pressed his big head to yours, nudging you as if to ask what he should do
âGet henry, go get Henry, Kalâ
you didnât have to tell him twice
heâd bolted to the study seeking out henry, knocking over everything he flies past, running as fast as he possibly can within the confines of the walls in the house
he was loudly barking the whole time, knowing that right now you are in jeopardy and that his Henry is your only saving graceÂ
heâd burst into Henryâs study nearly knocking the door off its hinges, almost jumping onto Henryâs lap
immediately Henry knew that something was wrong
normally a gentle giant around the house, Kal is bumping into things trying to reach his master, to get you the help you needed from Henry
âKal, Kal show me where, whatâs wrong. Is it Y/N? The baby? Mumma?â
He received a large bark in return, before Kal was rushing back to the kitchen to show his Henry where you were
Henry had raced behind Kal to where you were, panicking as he heard you call for him weakly
he eventually found you, sitting on the kitchen floor and clutching your belly in pain
Kal had stood by the door, watching Henry take over, his muscular form lifting you up and holding you close to get you to safety over on a soft chair
âitâs too early love, itâs got to be false contractionsâ
âthey donât feel falseâ
Kal had watched as Henry made a couple of calls, with sweat collecting at his brow
He had then spent a few moments with you, counting and calculating timings on his watch while youâd cried âit canât be time, heâs not ready Henryâ
Kal watched his Henry take your hands and stay close to you, trying to keep calm on the surface while making you a myriad of promises
just 10 minutes later, Kal had been left in the house aloneÂ
his only hope was that you and his Henry will be okay when you return
heâd had a strange few days at a friendâs house
their garden was smaller and they had a cat, but Kal hadn't minded them too much
he had still been concerned about where his Henry and his Y/N went so suddenly
and why did you not want to take him with you?
On the Tuesday, Kal hears the words âYouâre going back home today, to see your parents! And they have your baby brother waiting there too!â
Kal was delivered back home that afternoon, and comes bounding into the house, making a beeline for Henry who was waiting by the front door to greet his furry friend
You had stayed upstairs in the master bedroom with Will, making sure he was safe from the inevitable commotion downstairs
Youâd heard Henry embrace Kal, talking to him like an old friend whom he hadn't seen in years
Kal was so riled up from being away for so long, and Henry still in a lovestruck daze from the last 72 hours
âI know we were gone so suddenly, but everything is okay. Weâre back now, and we have someone special we want you to meetâ you can hear your husband speak excitedly to the bear
Kal had whined in retaliation, as if to ask "why did you leave me, Henry? What could have possibly been so important?â
âKalâ and itâs Henryâs no nonsense voice that youâd recognised this time;Â âYour baby brother is upstairs with Mum but he is very little. Very, very small. And youâre a big bear. So weâre going to be calm. Okay? Calm and gentle bear, good boy.â
Henry's footsteps and the tinkling of Kalâs collar were becoming clearer and clearer before the door to the master bedroom creaks openÂ
and there stands Kal in all his fluffy glory
Henry is right by him, watching over every move Kal makes, with baited breath in case he decides to make a running leap towards you and your tiny bundle of joy
Henry had looked up to you with a gentle grin, ensuring the door was left open in the event of any sporadic movements, particularly if Kal wasnât interested in this new person after all
âKnock knock, Kalâs promised to be good if he wants to see his brotherâ
Kal wants to jump up onto the bed but he knows he canât, no matter how curious he is
so he just waits patiently by the bed, because whatever you were holding  seems important, especially given that Henry is being very stern with him
maybe this is the special thing that his Henry and Y/N had loved so much
he looks up at you as you lean down enough for him to see the babyâs little faceÂ
âKal, this is your baby brother. This is who all the fuss has been about. heâll be able to play with you some day, when heâs a bit bigger.â
Kal blinks, taking the situation in
A new smell, a new person
A new, tiny Henry
At this realisation, he fondly rested his head in your lap right next to Will, receiving praise from Henry âeasy boy, good boy Kalâ
Kal makes an oath there and then to protect his tiny Henry
He sniffed a blanketed foot carefully, nuzzling it before staring at your sweet babyâs face
You look up at Henry briefly, and heâs already watching you as the rest of the scene plays out
âI think our boys are going to get along just fineâ you murmur, basking in the fond greeting between Kal and baby Cavill
only for it to end a moment later when your son squeaks the quietest noise, causing Kal to back up quickly, shocked by the sound
âOhh, are you saying hello to Kal honey? He is so gentle and fluffy isnât he?â youâd cooed to the fidgeting bundle in your arms
âi think itâs Kal who needs to watch out around here nowâ Henry comments with a grin
Whenever Henry goes out to play fetch with Kal in the huge garden - it may as well be a football field -Â youâd watch carefully from the balcony window while cradling Will, pointing out his how his Daddy throws a ball or a stick, and how clever Kal is for fetching and returning it
whenever your older boys are done, they both scramble to be first back to see you and the youngest of the Cavill pack
Will is often found snoozing, giving Kal the perfect excuse to curl up right alongside his crib him to protect him, should anything threaten his soft sleepy snores
And if Will is sleeping in the crib in the master bedroom right beside you and Henry, Kal paws at the door until he is let in, taking his rightful spot curled up beside his new best friend
If you or Henry, or a loving relative or friend is holding him, there is Kal right by their side, as if to stake his claim; âthis is my babyâ
In the middle of the night when Will starts crying, Kal is there first to check on his tiny Henry before he runs for immediate assistance
cue Henry having tripped over Kal in the middle of the night several times now, as Kal had rushed to the master bedroom and Henry having rushed out of it in the dark
Usually the consequences involve Henry taking a bump to his shin or his head, with you having to get up, turn the light on and fetch a crying baby Will
So yes, Kal is in the nursery a lot of the time and yes, you need to install a couple of night lights in the hallways so that Henry doesnât ultimately fall down the stairs or continue to injure himself via a fluffy Kal on a rescue mission
Henry always exclaims the next morning âI canât believe heâs always in the roomâ
Which makes you laugh, replying âYouâre just jealous he loves Will more than you now. I have to say Will is taking the badge for favourite Cavill of the month in this householdâ
Will sleeps a lot, and when Kal eventually gets bored, he sticks his big head into the crib, panting and waiting for his tiny Henry to pay him some attention
when you catch him, you rub his big head, letting him sit on the bed while you cradle a snoozing Will
however if Henry catches Kal with his head in the crib? Kal is out of the nursery for the rest of the day
âHe canât stick his head in like that, Iâm not having him hurting Junior, accident or notâ
So you need to unite your parenting tactics to train your dog before you use them to parent Will
When heâs not in his crib, Will is in one of the new moving cribs that Henry had researched to death before ordering and consequently building himself
That was an especially hot day in your pregnancy, and it was in December
Kal often just lays and watches his little best friend in it for as long as he likes, as he soon realises his large Henry will allow him to do that
sometimes you see Will laying in the crib with lots of dog toys around him
courtesy of Kal, of course
typically, Henry will be around to supervise, always thanking Kal on Juniorâs behalf, engaging his two dependents in conversation;Â âoh look another toy, Will. Thank you Kalâ
Kal would already be out of the room to fetch another toy while tiny Will is taking a hardcore nap
feeding and putting weight on is hard work!!
Henry definitely gets a few stares at the park now;Â a big beefy man, pushing a high-tech stroller, alongside an absolute unit of a dog
Kal is obedient as always, walking nicely beside the stroller with his two Henrys
heâs not even tempted by puddles or ducks or squirrels
his focus is on his best friends, especially the one wearing their brand new sweater to signify his move to newborn sized clothing at the age of 9 weeks
he loves watching his Henry and his Mama celebrate his tiny best friend, no matter how small their achievements - or sweaters - are
Kal is always gonna look out for his large Henry and his new tiny Henry, who both have the same dark curls and sparkly eyes
He is just the most wonderful big brother you could ever have wished for your little boy, and youâre sure they will get into heaps of laughs and trouble when Will grows up to become a rambunctious toddler, with peels of giggles coming from wherever the two will be playing together
Kal has the patience of a saint, and itâs why you donât worry at all when you find out a couple years later, that there will be two more little Henryâs for him to play with and guard, with his whole fluffy being

A/N: I got a request and sometimes I end up writing many more words than what a blurb/drabble should be...so please have another instalment of baby Will in the Tiny!AU
Warnings: none!
Read the rest of the Tiny!AU, and my other works here!
The wash cloth dripped warm water down Henryâs wrists and trickled into the bathtub as he squeezed the rag out for a second time to ensure it wasn't too heavy and sodden for your fragile baby. Sleeves rolled up to his elbows, he checked the temperature again on the giraffe-shaped thermometer, blowing away the curls that were forming in the steamy room as he prepared everything for his child.
âThe waterâs ready love. You can bring him inâ he calls out, turning when he hears your soft footsteps pad through to the bathroom carefully. In your arms, is a freshly naked baby Will, squirming a little but feeling free of his uncomfortable nappy for once. Henry canât help but let a proud, yet sleepy grin wash over his features. Will is one week old now and he still canât believe how tiny his son is, and that he belongs to him and you both, forever.
âSo I set the baby bath in... it was far too big still, so I made some adjustments and ran away most of the bathwater so that it should just come up to his knees and bellyâ he explains, showing you where to place your little man in the tub. The baby bath sitting right in the middle of what could only be described as a small puddle of warm water, in a tub so large that you and Henry are often able to share it.
Setting Will down cautiously, you let him lay back a little and let the water lap at his feet, before his back and little tummy also get warmed and soothed by the bathwater. You keep a hand on him, letting him know that Mumma hasnât gone anywhere, as Henry also leans over the side of the bath to keep a watchful eye on the whole situation. Making sure Will wasnât too close to the tap, that the baby tub allowed for his head to keep above the water, and that if Will fussed he would be able to respond with lightning fast speed and efficiency.
âHow is that baby? Hm? Look at you in your first ever bath! Youâre doing so well honeyâ you coo, and lean on the edge of the tub next to your husband, both growing more proud of your son each and every day you spent with him.
âThe book says to rub between any fat folds..but he doesnât have any. So I did some more research and this should be soothing for himâ Henry utters as he leans closer to his mini-me, taking the soft, warm, wet rag and laying it over Willâs little belly. His little hands find the material and you watch him blink his baby blues, as if assessing the situation. He opens his mouth as if to yawn, and then rests his head to one side, clearly not mad at the whole bathtime situation.
âLooks like we have a little water baby on our hands. He loves it!â you grin, watching as Henry takes the edges of the cloth to gently wipe Willâs hands and feet, taking extra time in dabbing his sweet little face clean after it got a little milky on his 4th feed that day.
Henry is almost ashamed. He was ready for it all to go pear-shaped, fearing that Will would hate it, or that he wouldnât even fit in the baby tub in the first place. Hell, he even worried if the cloth was too big to be placed on his sonâs tiny body.
âI was worried...you know? That he was....â
âToo little? you can say it Hen. I worry too. But heâs doing well, the doctor said so and I know that weâre looking after him with so much care and love that heâs gonna grow to be big and strong.â You turn and smile to him, kissing the side of his mouth softly, as he feels your eyelashes kiss his cheek. âJust like his Daddy. And donât disagree on that because you printed 4 different papers on how to run a bath for a newbornâ you both chuckle at that statement, because itâs true. Parenting is hard, and sometimes research papers are the only manual youâve got.
âMy genes and your pep talks, darling. Heâll take the world by stormâ Henry grins, stealing a quick kiss.

Youâre awoken by the squeaks of a fussy baby, opening your eyes in time to see your husband shush the child cradled in his right arm ever so tenderly. Henry catches you looking from where you laid in the bed and grins, making his way towards you with Will in tow.
âGood morning, and Happy Valentineâs day, Mummyâ his deep voice giving you butterflies still after all this time as he leans in to kiss you, 5 week old Will pressed between your chests, a warm safe haven for him as his parents shared their love on the cosy Sunday morning. Sitting up, you cradle Henryâs face in your hand, whispering a treasured valentine sentiment back, before turning your attention to your second, yet no less important valentine.
âHello baby boy, good morning! Are you wishing me a happy Valentineâs too?â
Will now weighs in at an impressive 2.3kg, and hasnât left your or Henryâs side in the past month. His tiny frame fits so perfectly into the crook of Henryâs forearm which is much larger than the precious child it helps to support. Somehow heâs managed to fit Will into a new, slightly-too-big onesie decorated with a large heart detailing the words âI Love my Mummyâ inside of it.
âYes, I have fed, burped, dressed, undressed, changed, re-dressed, and soothed him since 6am. He likes his early mornings but we did have a small poo-splosion. Itâs been dealt with, and weâve had a chat, haven't we Will?â Henry addresses the question to his son, who pays him no mind, other than to clench his little fist, making you laugh.
âHere, Iâll take him. I want cuddles from my littlest Valentine.â
âOh I see how it is...maybe Iâll have to return everything I got you and only give you the gifts from Will.â
Youâre about to reply that he neednât worry, that his Valentines will come later tonight, but your jaw drops as Henry pulls a few bags onto the bed, alongside the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers that must be 10 times the size of Will, and have cost him half the earth.
âHenry!â you gasp, careful to hold Will securely as you shuffle up the bed to see the gifts he has presented to you.
âA couple of the gifts were supposed to be given just before you gave birth but I wanted to wait until now, so youâd still get them on Valentineâs Day.â
You look at him with utter adoration, tears almost spilling over and you manage to hold it together until-
âOh no, Henryâ you cry out, immediately setting a pit of uncertainty in Henryâs stomach.
âWhat? Is something wrong? Is Will okay? Is it the flowers?â
You sigh and let a few tears slip out, cuddling Will close, looking down at his sweet innocent face, not wanting to meet Henryâs gaze. It doesnât do much good, as Will truly is his daddyâs double.Â
âI- I didnât get you anything. I completely forgot, Iâm so sorryâ you whisper, wishing you could turn back the clock and remember to at least put some of his favourite chocolates or cologne in the shopping cart when you last went out. âLike, not even a card. Iâm a rubbish wife.â
âWell thatâs just ridiculous. I couldâve sympathised with you until that point but Iâm afraid youâre completely wrong. On all counts.â He moves up closer to you on the bed, resting a large hand on your knee while using his other hand to gesture his points.
âFirst of all, you are not a rubbish wife. I donât ever want to hear you say that again. You are perfect and I really hope that these gifts will be worthy of you wearing them or eating them or just having them exist around you. They cost money, but money doesnât light a flame compared to what you got me for all my birthdays, valentineâs days and Christmases combined.â
He keeps one hand on your knee, with the other now moving over to hold Willâs whole hand with just the tip of his finger. Wrapping his palm around the familiar pointer finger, you hear the tiniest sigh from your sonâs body, feeling utterly relaxed in your arms and holding Henryâs hand.
âBut heâs 5 weeks old-â
âHe wasnât even meant to be born until the end of this month, and I would've told you the same thing as Iâm telling you now if that was still the case. You grew him and nurtured him and now we get to know him and love him every single day. I can never thank you enough for the gift of our child.â
Resting his forehead to yours, you sit there in that moment, soaking it up in the hopes to carry the weight of the emotions for days and weeks to come. Upon the gift opening, with Henry explaining each gift while Will lay in his arms, you realised that you truly had been spoiled rotten by your boys. Will had âboughtâ you a framed picture of the constellations in the sky at the exact time and place he was born, as well as a yearâs supply of your favourite breastfeeding cookies sitting in a large crate out in the kitchen.
Henry had truly outdone himself, assuring you that the flowers were from him âbut Will helped with his floral expertise, obviously.â He had waited to give you the last gift deliberately - a long, smooth rectangular box wrapped very delicately. Opening it, you see a note inside, setting the box down as you read aloud.
âJanuary is represented by the garnet stone. Derived from the word âseedâ, this fruitful gem keeps the wearer safe. And May is represented by the emerald to mean ârebirthâ...and gives the wearer foresight and good fortune...what does that....oh Henry!â
You lift the box and remove the protective paper to reveal the most beautiful necklace youâve ever seen. There are small diamonds detailing it and allowing it to glint in the light, alongside a small cut of garnet and emerald woven together in parts.
âHappy Valentineâs darling. Itâs mine and Juniorâs birthstones. Had to send it back when he came early to swap February for January. And more can be added...whenever they need be.â
You knew the tears would start again, and before they can mark tracks on your cheeks, you leap onto Henry to kiss him with passion, careful not to knock Will in the process.
âYou are the most loving, thoughtful, wonderful person in the whole world. Itâs beautiful and so personal...and I know it couldnât possibly compare, but how about some Valentineâs pancakes? We can show Will how to properly celebrate.âÂ
The three of you head to the kitchen soon after, cooking up a storm and dancing to the love songs playing on the radio. You even have the opportunity to feed Will again while Henry expertly flips the pancakes in the pan. He plates them up, drizzles them with your favourite topping, and feeds you while you feed Will.
One thing your son will never have to question, is the love that his parents have for each other.
