Every one is putting in their two sense about what happened in Ferguson so I thought I'd chime in. I think everyone is overreacting a bit, now no saying what happened was right by no means because it wasn't in any way shape or form. But I hate that everyone is focusing on the fact that it was a white man who shot a black teenager, and then asking the question what would happen if you switched the roles of who was involved. Skin color shouldn't dictate how a case is handled the focus should be the evidence and the facts. And the facts are simply this a police officer shot and killed an unarmed teenager, plain and simple. People who don't know the all the details are pretending they do. I feel obligated to be outraged because of the color of my skin not because of what I feel and what I think. Some of my friends who aren't black are feeling the same obligation to be against it. Every one is given unrealistic expectations based solely on the color of their skin. The truth is your skin color should just be another thing that makes you unique, just like your hair, your clothes, or even you eye color, not the thing that dictates your decisions. For me personally I don't let that dictate the things that I myself can control. I think that the Police officer should have been charged with manslaughter at the very least, but not because I identify as African American, I feel that way because this is how I perceive and process the information that I've been given. People are dehumanized and seen only as a color. But I, myself... I am a human being and I am so much more than a color.
