Somehow, Pink Diamond was standing before her as she had so long ago. Jasper, corrupted as she was, almost couldn’t believe quite what she was seeing. She almost didn’t want to believe what she was playing witness to. After all, the last thing she’d been doing before she was released from her bubble was fighting Smoky Quartz. It was the last thing she recalled clearly. Rose... ‘Steven...’ whatever its name was, she must have been freed from whatever had occurred to some degree. To what extent? Jasper didn’t know. She only recalled bits and pieces.
“M...my diamond...?” The words were raspy on her tongue. She’d been confined in that bubble for an eternity and a half, and her corruption didn’t seem as bad as it could have been. It was still spreading, though. Steven may have been able to heal her, but it wasn’t perfect. Not at all. She wasn’t perfect anymore.
Jasper was inclined to retreat back a small pace. What could she even say to the diamond she’d failed? She was supposed to protect Pink Diamond, and she couldn’t even do that when the time had come. She hadn’t been there when her diamond had been shattered by Rose Quartz. That had led to wanting revenge. What if Pink was ashamed of her?
No. No more questions like that. She had to get the obvious out of the way.
“How are... you here?”
