Sorry that it’s onlt in black and white, but let’s be honest it’s the music that counts, and great band performing 7 tracks, and two of these new songs, in just over 45 minutes is well worth the watcth ! !

I really don’t. There so many factors why I disagree wholeheartedly. This is gonna get lengthy so please bare with me, I’m not the most articulate when it comes to these things, but I know what I’m trying to get across. I’m not readmore-ing either. Let me explain:
1. As a performer myself, I understand the ins and outs of what it takes to make a character, it’s extremely hard. You have to build their personas, characteristics, history, etc. You learn to develop nuances, traits, triggers, habits that your character posses, this takes weeks, months and in Daniel & Phoebes case, years.
Now imagine you were born into world at the age you are now and being handed a script with how you should interact with others, a list of family members, a vague backstory, etc. You’d have to spend time thinking about the who’s, what’s, where’s, when’s, why’s and hows of your nature. Obviously out of this scenario you have your whole life behind you, your experiences to shape who you are. They don’t. They’ve created that to point where it becomes a reality for them. Where it becomes believable to them.
That’s fucking hard.Directors writers trust the actors with their characters, which is why along with a script, actors can go off script and improvise and still produce work that is perfect for their characters. In Haylijah’s case, DG & PT have many little improvised outtakes that they have done, that were so well done, they scrapped the original and placed their outtake there in its place. You have to get to a certain degree of knowing someone so well to imitate them perfectly.
But also, that doesn’t mean we haven’t seen both DG and PT say something doesn’t feel authentic and asked not to play a scene or play it differently, because they’ve grown to know their character so much that they know when something feels less fluid and not true to how their characters would react.2. There is this whole supernatural/modern day society factor to consider. We’re dealing with a crossover of worlds and the balance they have found. Due to them being of a different species we forget that they have seen thousands and thousands of lifetimes. This is more Elijahs case, hes lived with several different versions of himself. He has a whole mind palace of memories, different Elijah’s.. we saw a few of them.. and that place was frickin’ huge. We still don’t even know all of him, we know a tiny fragment. Mainly 21st Century Elijah. But we don’t know who he was properly as a child, a teenager, a young man, his first loves, his favorite pastimes… we’ve seen flashbacks and heard recounts and had glimpses of what’s happened, but I’m sure each era of Elijah, he’s been a different man, he’s recreated, reinvented himself to fit in, and adjust to the times.
We don’t know all of what there is to Elijah Mikaelson.
In the same way we don’t know all of what there is to Hayley Marshall.
Because in turn, we’ve only HEARD of her stories, we haven’t even had the luxury of flashbacks and glimpses, we’ve had Freya fuel a memory of her as a baby, and pretty much, that’s it. But this girl has had a complicated upbringing, she was born in a different time, and is a little more modern, but she’s also still at the beginning of her supernatural years in all honesty, even still. She continuously stresses her need to keep the human side of her alive, for more reasons than one.
AND good grief, the biggest factor right now is that the impossible happened. For both of them, the whole family- Hope.
She’s this big lump of innocence in the midst of all they’ve known. Of course, their personas are going to change, priorities change, agendas shift. Because when a child comes into the world, EVERYONE around that baby does better, does more, they change and recognise the worst in themselves and try their very hardest to not to have that reach the child.
Even for the adults though, they become focused, on whats right, whats wrong, and don’t beat around the bush, because their actions have repercussions and all in all, they have to do what is right for the child in the equation.
3. Motherhood changes you.
Fatherhood changes you, because if we want to talk about ‘OOC’, then who the fuck is Klaus? ‘he’s not the man he used to be’, ‘he’s no longer a heartless monster’. Damn right he isn’t. He’s a father now. He’s a big fat softie, because guess what? THIS IS A SIDE TO HIM WE’VE NEVER SEEN BECAUSE WE HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE.
Unclehood changes you. Let’s not forget there was a time when Klaus did not want anything to do with this baby girl, he denied her. Elijah didn’t and I’m not saying Elijah was ready to swoop in and be ‘uncle daddy’. Cause he wasn’t. But he sure as hell didn’t want this child to have a broken family, he wanted to be there and be a part of this child’s life and in turn, he vowed to look after Hayley, he gave her word. He loves Hope, he named her, he fought for her. When it comes to kids you’re left with an influence to make, to raise a child to the best of your ability. It takes the whole village. Elijah realised this, and he decided to step in and do all he could from his current position.
But he’s a terrible man/brother for stepping in where his brother lacked? Right? Cause he’s not been doing that since TVD days… < .<
4. Hayley and Elijah are no longer in that Honeymoon, infatuation stage. They’re soo passed it. To be honest though, I think Hayley was still in that headspace up until that five year stint, where she got to make up for lost time with Hope, become a mother, find herself again, because she needed that break.
When they were reunited from then on Hayley has been so open and blunt and unapologetic with him. She’s grown up a little. Its really freaking nice to see. She doesn’t tip toe around him, she knows what she wants and what she needs from him, all whilst being clear (and this is also unspoken because Elijah already knows) that Hope is #1.
He’s her person. I think maybe even her first true love (besides Hope), she fell for his kindness, chivalry and she used to deny it because of their circumstance, they both did in the beginning to save face, not to anger or offend those around them.
BUT heres like a crucial thing we should note also.
The very people they were protecting by ‘not being together’, are now so accepting and supportive of it.
5. Klaus especially, the #1 influencer, of the direction of this pairing. HAD to be okay with it, before they felt somewhat comfortable. Especially Elijah, since Klaus has a history of slaughtering his lovers. But the fact that Klaus was calling for Hayley to comfort his brother on his death bed? The fact that his brother saw before he did, the potential Hope was for their family? The fact that Klaus left the mother of his child hanging alone and Elijah was the ONLY one who cared for her safety? The fact that Elijah risked his life over and over for her when he just sat on the sidelines and did nothing?
Even Klaus has to give him that- he looked after Hayley and Hope when he wasn’t courageous enough too.
6. Five years have past. If you were the same person 5 years ago, fight me on this, lmao.
7. They want to be happy.
This isn’t out of character.
This is character development. This is character growth. This is a new side. This is the ‘more than what meets the eye’. This is a new dynamic. This is adjusting. This is seeing your true colours.
This fandom needs to get out of the habit of saying things are out of character when really it’s just because people don’t live up to what their initial expectations for that character or pairing was. It went against your perception. You felt some type of way. You OOC’d it. Cause that’s easier that comprehending their behaviour.
You’re missing out.
I’m gonna have to go back and rewatch the Aeor arc aren’t I
