She doesn't know what Coulson aims to prove with the pointless messages, Barton says this, asks that, thinks of her as if he isn't perfectly capable of finding her if he wanted to. In fact he'd proven the opposite leaving her last message unopened and unanswered.

OKAY, I have been trying to hard to push through and finish Heir of Fire but I have heard so many things about Queen of Shadows that are holding me back. Rambles (potentially due to incorrect information) under cut:
So, in Throne of Glass and in Crown of Midnight, I was a hardcore Chaolaena shipper. Their friendship/almost something more-ship in ToG was really cute and I loved reading about it, especially when Chaol killed for the first time and Celaena comforted him afterward.
Then in CoM, their relationship was so fucking amazing to me. It was built on such a strong foundation from book one, and when it blossomed into such a great romance in CoM, I was all for it. Then all that unfortunate shit went down and they hit an EXTREMELY rough patch, but in the end of CoM, Celaena calls Chaol her home and tells him she will always. Choose. Him.
Now this is why the spoilers I have heard about Queen of Shadows really, really, piss me off. Why the fuck did Sarah J. Maas decide to not end, but to completely SHIT on both the platonic, and romantic relationship between Chaol and Celaena, now Aelin?
Listen, I am okay with them ending their romantic relationship, though that seems odd considering how often Celaena worries, talks, and thinks about Chaol throughout HoF...and how she wears his ring...and how she gave him the Eye of Elena to protect him...and how she says in HoF that she couldn’t even imagine marrying anyone who isn’t Chaol...but that’s none of my business. HOWEVER, what I’m NOT okay with, is Sarah J. Mass murdering any friendly relationship they could have. Before Celaena and Chaol were together, they were friends. So why the fuck could they not just end any romantic relationship, but still RESPECT EACH OTHER AND BE FUCKING FRIENDS? God it’s just so fucking stupid.
Also, before you go ape shit on me, I’m not anti Dorian/Aelin (though I admit I do not know their ship name. I am not really anti Aelin/Rowan, either. I am simply anti let’s-shit-on-a-beautifully-developed-relationship-between-two-characters-instead-of-just-having-them-end-things-cordially-and-remain-really-good-friends.
Also, I hear Aelin is very much a hypocrite in QoS and blames Chaol for never killing/standing up to the king meanwhile all throughout ToG she could’ve done the same fucking thing. I also hear that Chaol is rude right back to her and I feel like that is so out of character for him, like wait what?
ANYWAY, this is the struggle. If anyone has any words of advice on whether or not it’s worth it to keep reading, please let me know! Also if I’m wrong about what happens in QoS anywhere above let me know...
Questions that could make me really want to keep reading: is Chaol happy ever in QoS? Does he find someone? Do he and Dorian fix their relationship? I love Chaol so fucking much so basically if he has a good storyline in QoS I’ll want to keep reading tbh.
