Update 2.0 “Da Capo al Fine”

• First recorded instance of the elusive emn-dash “-—“

• Final annoying tense changes “it’s not like” -> “it wasn’t like”

• Added a few more sentences of relationship speculation to Da Capo

• Select comments gathered into proper comment doc

• Playlist finally written down all in one place

That’s…it! 100%! The fic has been edited and updated all the way through! I’m so incredibly happy with this story and that it’s fully finished. I hope to finish the typesetting in the next few days, pictures of course to follow.

Book design notes no one will care ab:

• All starting points start at 2.5in down the page

• The font is Iowan Old Style Roman for body, title caps for titles, and italics for runners

• Type is set in 10 pt with 14 pt leading

• This doc is meant to be a 6x9 book, currently waffling between paperback or hardcover

Step one is to get all the text situated on the doc

Step two is to clean up the text, reduce as many hanging words or chapters as possible

Step three final touches (ex: TOC, comments, flourishes)

Update 1.4 “Sempre Con Anima, Allegro” and “Interlude - Tommy”

• Very minimal updates to grammar

• Added more “big, small” theming to section

• Favourite line: “because you’re there…and I’m still here.”

This update was hard to get through! It was just as hard to write!! AUGH!!!! Not many changes, just a lot of very subtle shifts to stresses in sentences and a couple added commas.

Update 1.3 “Piu Mosso Amoroso” & “Interlude - Tubbo”

• More eggpire foreshadowing added to news broadcast

• Chapter 12 wins the award of “least edits needed” requiring only one tense change

• Timeline continuity with “what month is it?” (In chapter 16 it’s the end of September, nearly October)

• Pun added to chapter 16 (“but it’d mean the world if you showed up.” -BBH to Ran)

So! We’re at the pivotal…shift, I guess, for the story. The point where my posting queue was catching up to me and I started lagging on updates and waffling about how I wanted the story to progress let alone End. Fun fact: in the very very first draft of the plot, Tommy ends up killing Dream.

I cut that because as I was writing the story I kept coming up against the idea of Ranboo and agency. I had to sit back and ask myself “why is this guy the main character? What influence does he have on the plot? If I focused on another character could I get the same story? What makes his story special?” And I grappled a lot—especially here in this middle section, second fun fact: he was originally coerced via egg drug to attend the party—with how much I wanted Ranboo to do. He’d started to stand up for himself and his opinions at this point, but was that even progress when in the next section he gets conned and his attempts at agency are all undermined completely?

Update 1.2 “Simile Andante” & “Interlude - Quackity”

• Chapter six weirdest typo: “bowels” instead of “bowls”

• Jerma introduction! He does not know what he will become

• Chapter eight with the most tense changes. Large sections of present tense have been removed with appropriate PPE and replaced with proper past tense

• This whole section is weirdly fixated on the concept of shitting. I’m not changing anything about this it’s just a weird thing I noticed

• Favourite line: “Ranboo fell back against the couch…and just breathed in happiness for a bit”

• Gendered descriptors updated: “blonde” -> “blond”

• New interlude content:

- added Syndicate foreshadowing

- tied in Philza’s crackpot theory from previous interlude
