cats bred to resemble foxes. the high rufousing in abyssinians was added to mink (as well as colorpoint and sepia) and refined to resemble a fox's coat. the foxlike look of oriental longhairs were added in as well, and over many years the breed grew to look very close to a fox with long muzzles, large size and bushy tails.
