John had met Catie through the bars of their prison cells, and strangely, theyâd become incredibly close - she seemed to have a way with people, would charm them easily.
He was in prison for murdering and raping some pretty girl whoâd caught his eye. She was in prison for murdering a man so that she could be promoted and take his place.
Such a pity that sheâd been caught - apart from the odd mistake, her plans were flawless.
Sheâd grown fond of calling him âDoctorâ, claimed that he helped people - or helped her, at least. It had surprised him to find that he was falling in love with her, the strange, wild and ambitious girl who sometimes⌠seemed a little insane, with the way sheâd giggle, just slightly manically. Yet other times, she seemed cold, calculating.
She was a mystery, the girl he wished he could get closer to, blissfully content when they shared their first kiss, lips pressed together between prison bars, hands reaching desperately for each other. And he soon found that she was even more intelligent than heâd realised - she figured out a way for the two of them to escape, and that was exactly what they did.
He should have seen it coming. Should have known that sheâd used him, manipulated him because that was what she needed to do to escape.
But he was an idiot, didnât figure that out until the day she kissed him sweetly, smirked with that smug expression of hers heâd gotten to know so well, then revealing a small, yet very sharp knife and driving it into his heart.
Heâd been foolish, heâd fallen for her traps, fallen in love with this impossibly clever girl who he was almost sure would end up living life with a ridiculous amount of money, whilst he⌠he died by her hand, forgotten about, worthless⌠just as he always had been.
