I’m so grateful for the complimentary copy of First Tracks that Catherine O’Connell sent to me. First Tracks by Catherine O’Connell is a story about grief and survival. Fifteen years ago, Greta Westerlind moved from Milwaukee to Aspen. Greta’s love for skiing is unconditional, yet she knows that mother nature can be fickle. She’s surprised to awaken in the hospital after surviving an avalanche. Unfortunately, her best friend, Warren McGovern, didn’t survive. Greta has no memory of the avalanche and doesn’t know why both her and Warren were in an area that they should not have been in. After leaving the hospital, Greta is determined to get back to her normal routine, but finds her life in jeopardy again. Greta knows that if she can just remember what her and Warren were doing on that mountaintop, she’ll be able to figure out who wants to harm her. I devoured this book – it was a fast, addictive read that pulled me in immediately. I loved Greta- I loved that she was brave and stubborn yet always trusted her instincts.
