So... How /do/ you explain to your families that you're going to investigate ghosts? Also, was that chemistry I spotted Allison and Isaac?
Well, for Stiles there was no need to explain. Heâs been obsessed with this stuff for as long as I can remember. When he told John he was starting this whole thing up he just nodded like heâd been expecting it. By extension, telling my mom was pretty easy. She just said âWhere Stiles goes, you go. Iâve leaned to except it.â
To be honest, weâre all fairly lucky that we have a lot of support behind us. Derekâs sisters are two of our biggest fans! I think they get a little freaked out (especially after what happened at Cal State with the whole poltergeist thing) but Laura did just ask to come along on a hunt so I guess sheâs not that freaked out. Itâs exciting for them.
Allison and Lydia have been doing stuff like this for years so it wasnât a huge jump for them to go from where they were to doing the full on investigations. Chris (Allisonâs dad) even gave us a few pointers when we first started out.
I guess, with Isaac it was a little bit more difficult. He has aâŚrocky relationship with his dad. They donât really speak much but Isaac did make a point of telling him what he was doing. His dad has always had this issue about Isaac being a camera man(not stable, living in a dream world blahblahblahâŚus film makers get that a lot) but this was steady work. The row got pretty heated and in the end, I just told Isaac to hang up the phone. His dad had just decided that it was another way that Isaac was wasting his life. He doesnât believe ghosts are real, he thinks everything we capture is an illusion, a trick of the light, a stunt. We would never do that, but there we go.
All in all, telling our families wasnât that hardâŚitâs when they watch the footage back and see some of the shit we go through that we have to do damage control!
Iâm not touching the chemistry question with a ten foot poleâŚlet me see if I can grab one of themâŚ
Yeah, so I guess Iâm ferrying this question as Allisonâs not aboutâŚ
Catastrokey, I can neither confirm nor deny the presence ofâŚchemistry between me and AllisonâŚ
(Honestly, Iâm not sure myself. One minute I think âyeah, she likes me tooâ the next minute Iâm wondering if itâs all in my head or if sheâs just such a lovely girl that sheâs that nice to everyone and Iâm just reading too much into itâŚI guess, watch this space. Hey, when I know, youâll know :P)
And on the other part of your question, I can see Scottâs already answered it but I just wanted to add this. Telling my father that I was going to be investigating ghosts for a living was one of the worst conversations of my life. My dad is not a very supportive man in general but this was something else. Still, I have a new family now. Once you join the pack, you kind of get accepted into everyone elseâs families. You gain sisters and parents who look out for you and call to check up on you and send texts to tell you theyâre proud. I never had that before. So, telling my dad was hard but getting away from him and joining these losers was the best thing I ever did.
