Blood Sucker / Proinsias Cassidy Imagine
Request: Hello love! I was wondering if you write for the preacher would you be able to write a Cassidy x reader (imagine or head cannon) where the reader is a vampire and finds him when he was first bitten. Sorry if thatâs a bit vague. :/Â
I still havenât finished the last season of Preacher, but I read all the comics a while ago and oof do I love my Vampire boy XD
Iâm having a rough day so all comments are always appreciated! <3
The lake lay silver in the bright light of the moonshine, not a perfect ovoid, but irregular and rushed, like an ink blot staining into the Earth. The rippled water ran right into the crevices of the stone and dirt, flecks of brick from soldiers passing by lay in the soil washed upon the rocks. Around the edges were pines, chaotic in their spacing but never more than a few feet without another. The only sound was the soft whispering of the trees and Proinsiasâ desperate rambles as his stumped fingernails dig into the dirt.
His mangled lip and slightly askewed nose were caked in dried blood, congealed and cracked. The now browning blood had drizzled down his face like so much rain down a window pane, that the tears that slipped out of the corner of his eyes were near invisible.
âStupid bloodsucker!â
Giving up, he gave final push with the heel of his foot and allowed his cheek to sink into the mud.
When he awoke, his limbs were as stiff and cold as a corpse. He raised his hand to his neck and it came away bloody. As he struggled to recollect how on earth he ended up half sunk into the dirt of an Irish bog, he ran his tongue over his teeth. He stopped at his incisors and to make sure felt with his fingers, not even tasting the flecks of soil that lingered on his tongue. They were long and sharp.
But he had bigger problems. As soon as the sunlight wavered across the grass and began to rise against the road, it hit his skin and he felt it bubble, smelling the aroma of burnt flesh.
Rolling out of the way, he nearly cried when he heard your voice.
âJesus, I didnât think there were more like me. You really should stay out of the sun, eejit, are you trying to get yourself killed?â
You were nothing like the story-book vampires: pale with overgrown canines and a dislike of garlic. You looked...normal. Your skin was a little on the waxy side and you wore shades in the daylight, but apart from that, you looked like anyone back in his little village.
âWho are ya? Can you help me. Jaysis, I have no idea whatâs going on-â
The pain increased in waves, small lulls giving false hope of an end that crescendos and made his speech wither out in agony. It's as though his blood has become acid, intent of destroying him from the inside out. All he can do is writhe, the occasional whimper escaping to echo through the empty woods.
Black filled the edges of his vision and the only thing he could hear was his own heartbeat, not even you walking towards him and kneeling down, gingerly lifting his head up to cradle it in your lap.Â
You wanted to save him, he knew, and he almost cried in relief. If he could have, he would of laughed.Â
He closed his eyes; he could die happily now. He wanted to focus on his fragile, human heart beat one last time, allowing himself to melt into the feeling of your fingers caressing against his sore cheeks.
âCome on, nowâs not the time to play the fool.â
Proinsias was smiling.
Perhaps smile wasn't the right word for it: the top row of teeth was showing, and there was a faint curve to the lips, but there was no crease below the eyes, no movement of the cheeks. On anyone else, it would be a grimace, at best. On this face, however, it was a sign of bliss.
âNo, Cassidy, Iâm more like you than you think.â
