 Late 18th century case clock or âgrandfather clock.â
  The case is cherry wood with applied molding. The dial is sheet metal, hand-painted with brightly colored flowers. Roman numerals indicate the hours, while Arabic numerals indicate the minutes. The hands are hand-forged iron, possibly original.
  A handwritten note is pasted inside the door, dated 1924. "This clock belonged to Harry W. Howard Jr. It came from Germany and is over 100 years old.â
  Another note is handwritten on the margins of a newspaper clipping entitled âThe Old Grandfather Clock.â
  " . . . cold dark December-1921- 2 weeks yet till Christmas.â
