‘Yuya, that kid’s fine. You don’t need to attract attention just because you think he needs to smile.’

‘It’ll work out, Yuto. Besides! What kind of Dueltrainer would I be if I didn’t at least try to help out?’ And no amount of coaxing from one of the voices in his subconscious was going to stop Yuya from walking over either. He was an entertainer and entertainers always looked for way to make people smile.

“You’ll have to be. Academia isn’t letting up with their attacks just because they’ve pushed us all inside places like this.”

That place in question being one of the Resistance’s strongholds within the city. The barricaded building acted like a safe zone to all of the fighting happening in Heartland City, giving Ruri, Yuto, and Shun a place to sleep easy for the night. Shun, however, had gone out regardless; leaving Yuto to watch over Ruri for the time being. 

“It’s really not safe for anyone to be alone anywhere right now. Not unless you want the worse to happen to you. I know you like helping others in trouble and want to stop the fighting, but I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to go outside here right now.”

Letting him explore one of the bays around Maiami City for the day had been more Yuya’s  idea than it’d been Yugo’s. Despite being the one in control most of the time, Yuya actually did try to give his counterparts time outside his subconscious to themselves—but that much would stay Yugo’s secret!

Especially when today’s adventure had brought him to the beach with one of his favorite people!

“C’mon! We didn’t get the chance to come all the way down here to just go jumpin’ in waves!”

Snatching Rin’s hand up, Yugo wouldn’t even wait for a protest before he was trying to tug the green haired girl along with him.

“Yuzu...”

Yuya hadn’t expected Yuzu’s reach for his shoulder, let alone Yuzu’s using it as a rest. Affection like this wasn’t typically something Yuzu wanted any part of, but he could only imagine that proved just how much stress she’d been under. Yuya could tell just from her pacing—her snap hadn’t really been directed at him.

But at least she’d find a pair of arms lightly wrapped around her sides; Yuya delicately pressing his cheek against the side of her head in a show of support.

“Hey, don’t worry. I know you didn’t mean to let you attitude go off without you like that, so I didn’t even think that much about it. I mean, it’s probably about time you took a break from everything anyway, right?”
