When triaging patients, never assume anything. Follow up your questions with a question!

Patient in for tingling to feet, was prescribed gabapentin a week ago (from the ED) but “they don’t work”.

Traige- “Have you been checking your blood sugars at home?”

Patient- “Yes, twice a day.”

T- “And how have they been?”

P- “Oh they’re good!”

T- “Okay, what’s a good blood sugar for you?”

P- “Oh, like between 500-800”

T- “Nope.”

In that same shift I did impacted SO much poop from a patient. And got a 24 short IV in my 5wk preemie RSV baby.

Plenty of staff learning how to work the clinic, since it’s day one for our facility. I filled out my paperwork, including a waiver so they could take my picture for the news. (Celebrity status pending)

Received my Moderna vaccine in my right deltoid. Didn’t take a picture because another lady was taking them. In, push, out, slap a bandaid and get your sticker.

We had to wait 15 minutes after to ensure no allergic reaction so I stood in the hall chatting with a couple nurses and our director. I scheduled my 2nd dose for 1/28 and headed home.

Today I feel: arm soreness. I didn’t have any with my flu shot. I would rate the discomfort a 3/10, kind of like being sore after a good workout. I’m feeling a little tired and have a little nausea. I’m drinking lots of water, taking my vitamins. I have some leftover zofran but I’ll save it in case I feel nauseated later, since I work the next 3 days 🙃🙃🙃

I’m so grateful to have my place at the table for this. I want to hug my friends, my grandparents. I want to spend time with my people. It has been nice having the focus on our home. We’ve done more home improvement projects and hung out with the kids than we ever have. Silver linings I suppose.
