Day 9 of OCtober: A Gym Leader OC for a hypothetical region of the Pokémon world based on Canada (I’m calling it the Auvut Region, from an Inuktitut word that means “goodbye”). This is Cardine, a Fire-Type Gym Leader. I based her and her city of Flordelis on the more metropolitan parts of Quebec. Also, since it’s an unspoken rule that Pokémon Trainers and Gym Leaders have to be named after plants, I named her after the cardinal flower, a plant native to Canada whose colour is a deep red—perfect for a Fire-Type expert. Her Pokémon are very elegant and feminine, such as Ninetales and Salazzle.

Pierre Cardin experimented with new fabrics, even releasing his own called “Cardine” in 1968. Garments made of Cardine, such as the sculptural minidress pictured above, were extremely versatile. The fabric allowed for the creation of seamless articles of clothing that could be washed and folded away, yet spring back into shape immediately!

Day 10 of OCtober: Gym Leader Cardine, her daughter Leeyah, and her Ninetales. I feel like Cardine would have trained her Ninetales to act docile around her daughter, but probably not Salazzle (because of the poison) or Onagcry or Circandle (because of the flames).
