Reposted from @molecule_of_the_day (@get_regrann) - Carbaryl is a chemical in the carbamate family used chiefly as an insecticide 🐞🚫. It is commonly sold under the brand name Sevin, a trademark of the Bayer Company. Usually, carbaryl is commonly used to control aphids, fire ants 🐜, fleas, ticks, spiders 🕷, and many other outdoor pests. The discovery of carbaryl is considered a major breakthrough in pesticides, as although toxic to insects, carbaryl is detoxified and eliminated rapidly in vertebrates. This makes it much safer 👍 than many other synthetic pesticides like organochlorides and organophsophates. Thanks 🙏 anonymous for the suggestion! The molecular structure was created using ChemDoodle.
