ok that’s next level because if you are actually working within the art form you absolutely should be up to date on a bare minimum level like that’s just beyond..... I feel more inclined to be lenient about the “layperson”‘s outdated views cause issues of accessibility, lack of education on/exposure to the art form etc but how do you STUDY and not know shit about the art at the same time.

GOD I’ve been in a situation where I went over to a woman’s apartment to have sex and her roommate literally told me she followed me on tumblr and thought I was hot and I was like...“Thanks I guess we’re just a room over if you wanna join but otherwise why would you tell me this????” Also I was 18 and LOOSE so I literally left her apartment to go have sex with a whole other woman immediately after.

word!!!!!!! and on a similar note, specifically those works that are considered “revolutionary” or similarly “outstanding” within (operatic) repertoire have usually been endlessly researched and debated too so I personally find it hard to feel inspired about researching them myself when basically everyone and their dogs have already written tomes about them.
