Word Count: 13,000 Why I loved it: Now, normally I would see Umbridge's name and backspace out of a fic so fast, I'd be left spinning, but I read the summary of this fic and decided to give it a shot. I'm so very glad I did. Written for the horrorfest at hp_darkarts on livejournal, this fic is incredibly well researched and composed. It's really like a glimpse into what could have been from Umbridge's POV after the locket was taken from her in DH. I loved the backstory the author gives us of Umbridge's past, and the place she draws her strength from. It is quite telling in canon that Umbridge is in her element while wearing the horcrux locket and is more than capable of producing a Patronus while wearing it, when we know Harry could not. Really. Give it a read, it's fantastic! Leave love for the author if you like it!
