It felt... strange to be surrounded by such vivid colors, to smell air so heavily scented that she could taste it.
And the laughter she heard... When had she heard such light, effortless laughter in the past few years?
Capricia recalled nothing of how she'd come here. When she stopped, confounded by the grass underfoot, the shapes of confusingly large candies around her, all she could dimly remember was yet one more day of plodding across the Dravanian landscape. When had she slept last...? She didn't know.
And oddly, she didn't feel tired now. Just... elated? Capricia had so little experience with any of the positive emotions that she couldn't even name what she felt. Light. Bright. Sweet. Words to describe her surroundings, perhaps even her emotions, and she turned when a high, chiming voice called her name.
The fluttering blur bounced just out of reach, almost lost against the backdrop of wildly hued clouds. "Come! You can fly, too!"
And for one wild, careless moment, Capricia believed it, running forward with a foreign laugh bursting from her mouth.
That moment stretched out as she leapt, feeling wildly free, exhilarated, utterly weightless. Capricia couldn't think of a single time in her life when she'd felt this rush, her head spinning wildly, and she laughed again.
And then... She was not ascending.
Fear bleached her world. Her mouth went dry as her body twisted in midair, and that chiming, laughing voice called out once again. "And now you can fall!"
The voice proved absolutely correct. She could fall.
And she did.
