Should you take both the ACT and SAT
It is certainly beneficial to take both the ACT and SAT to see which test you did better on, but for some students, sitting for both doesn't make sense. You should focus your study time on one exam that plays to your strengths more than another.
SAT or ACT scores are required by most colleges, and neither test is preferred over the other. It should be noted, however, that a significant percentage of students applying to selective colleges work on both tests. Both the SAT and the ACT are important standardized tests, and preparing for both has never been easier (or more affordable!) before.
Reasons You Might Want to Take Both Tests
There will be more opportunities for you to succeed
Since the two tests are similar, preparing for one will be helpful for the other
The two tests can provide schools with additional information
A wider selection of test dates will be available to you
