In the coming weeks or months, other schools, including the University of Houston, Texas State University in San Marcos, and University of Texas at Tyler, will decide on test score requirements.

The test-optional policy has been extended indefinitely by Sam Houston State University, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Tarleton State University. The test-optional policies of some private universities, including Baylor University and Rice University, have been extended through fall 2023.

According to national experts, if schools want to be truly test-optional, they should remain neutral toward the tests. Many university websites say students will not be adversely affected if they do not submit test scores, but encourage them to submit them if they have them.

Ideal ACT/SAT Scores for Ivy League School Applications

In general, you need a minimum ACT score of 31 to get into an Ivy League school. Some of these schools, including Harvard and Yale, require a score of 32. 

A minimum SAT score of 690 to 730 for the reading portion of the test and 700 to 730 for the math portion is required to get into an Ivy League school. Getting 700 or 710 (or higher) on both of these sections will give you an advantage at most prestigious universities.
