May I just say, whether or not you like how it was executed, I adore that the CAoS costume department has built at least two mythological references into Lilith’s outfits for part 4!
First: the snakeskin dress, which cuts off sharply at the collarbones, giving the look of a half woman, half snake, which could either be a reference to the version of her myth where she is the snake who appears to Eve in the Garden (in art, sometimes depicted with a human face and neck), or else to associated myths of snake-hybrid women, like Lamia.
Second: the robe with the lower arms made out of tiered black stoles, evocative of downy bird plumage, harking back to any number of things, such as Lilith’s mythological roots going back to half-bird wind spirits, to her growing wings in some iterations of her literal flight from Eden, or her ability to shapeshift into birds (notably an owl, though these are more crow-looking).
I just really appreciate that. You have got to hand it to the visual creatives on this show, they do enjoy their work and do it with gusto.
