I’m a 2D artist and a gamer so i really appreciate when visual design in video games supports the main idea and the gameplay of the game. If you haven’t watched or read some interviews of Jonathan Jacques-Belletête (he was an art director for DE games) i highly recommend you do that. Coz there he dwelled on how important it was to create a unique style and support the gameplay at the same time. Adam’s character design is like the perfect example of this approach - his coat is beautiful but functional; the way his sleeves are disigned is very clever and don’t interfere with one of the gameplay features - using the blades and other weapons. The mere fact that he is wearing a coat is symbolic and has its meaning...and i don’t even mention his tactical suit which is a masterpiece on its own :) (and i should draw it someday by the way) I changed the design of the blade on this one coz i wanted to show the full beauty of Adam’s coat, please forgive me for that :) but at the same time while drawing this piece of art i fully realized how much love and passion was put into coat designing process...its just incredible.
