@cantfrighten — sansa.
if elspeth could be optimistic, or at least SOUND as though she was, than sansa was sure anyone could be. maybe even herself. a hum was given in response to the statement as she continued muddling the elfroot she had collected in her bowl. healing magic was GREAT and all, but even mages got tired -- there could never be enough healing potions.
“i hope you’re right,” she finally commented, cutting through the quiet. she wanted so desperately to believe that elspeth was right, that through all of the violence and fear and sadness -- there might actually be some good. it was HARD for sansa to try and imagine it, even though she had so loved playing pretend as a child. but they were not children anymore, and this wasn’t pretend.
“it looks like you haven’t been entirely miserable though,” sansa continued with a smile, looking up at the other. “your new friends seem... quite entertaining.” it was interesting for her to meet elspeth’s newest companions, to witness their personalities. an absolutely interesting group of misfits -- she wasn’t sure how elspeth managed it.
“who catches your curiosity the most?” elspeth asked, teasingly. she worked to finish cleaning the vials sansa would need for her potions, all whilst paying close attention to how she made them. “the witch of the wilds, the silent giant, or the assassin who tried to kill me?”
even she could admit her choices in companions had been questionable at best, but who was elspeth to turn down help wherever she could find it? times were desperate, and so was she. besides, she was almost certain zevran wouldn’t be trying that whole thing again.
