OH FUCK this is such a good question??? GOD i've never even thought about this before (which when i think about it honestly surprises me lmfao).

hmm. concept albums are so exciting to me bc like, in every creative medium i always look to tell a story, and an album as a cohesive work that serves not only as something that sounds good but also as something that ebbs and flows as a singular body in motion just really floods my motor. any one song is a story within itself, so an entire album of songs as segments of a larger story is astounding to me lmfao. and the story can be anything!!! it can be something internal that the author(s) struggle with (like pink floyd's the wall), or it can be something contrived or fictional (arctic monkey's tranquility base hotel and casino), and it can be really abstract or it can spell it all out for you in twenty-foot-tall letters. all of which is why it's hard for me to pin down a subject, if i were to make a concept album.

richard siken's "we have not touched the stars, nor are we forgiven, which brings us back to the hero's shoulders and the gentleness which comes, not from the absence of violence, but despite the abundance of it" makes me go absolutely FERAL. i got chills just typing it out rn. i want a tattoo symbolizing that line but idk what specifically i'm gonna get yet

also in "to the bone" by dorothy allison, the line "that summer i did not go crazy / but i wore very close / very close to the bone" is insane and i love it. idk lmfao i relate to it a lot bc in the summer after my sophomore year of high school i lowkey had a breakdown (lots of different circumstances combined and put me under more pressure than i could really handle) and like yeah it's a mood
