Hot water Canberra
This is what it looks like when a storage hot water rusts through on the bottom. You can avoid an incident like this by changing the sacrificial anode, which is a metal rod that attracts minerals and substances which can cause the tank to rust out. These sediments enter the tank through the water supply, but the anode draws these to itself before they can cause any damage to the tank, and therefore stop a repeat of what is seen here! But anodes do deteriorate as they protect the water heater - hence the self-sacrifice, and need to be checked regularly and replaced as required. You should also have a Canberra qualified plumber conduct a hot water system service in order to clean out the sediment which lies in the bottom, as this can also cause damage to the unit, and stops it from heating as efficiently as it should - which costs you money in energy and gas bills!!
