Daily Featured Flag #5: Canada
Today's featured flag for 1 July, 2026 is the flag of Canada. Usually there'd be a formal name there, but like several post-colonial states of the former British empire, Canada has nothing before its name- Canada is just Canada. Anyhow, today is July 1st, which is Canada Day, celebrating the creation of the Dominion of Canada from the confederation of three former British colonies: those being Canada, (yes, it was really called that- this is modern day Ontario and Quebec) Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Much like other independence and nation-building festivities worldwide, Canada Day is often celebrated with fireworks. If you happen to know any of the maple syrup people, wish them a happy day of celebrating their motherland- unless they're from Quebec, that is.
Happy Canada Day! If you'd like to see your favorite flag featured, reply with an image, a little about the flag, and if you'd like to, tell me why you like it! Have a good day, everybody!
