Lockdown - The Trillogy
Despite my love of acting, I have never been much of a film Buff. Clare will testify to this, having witnessed me fall asleep during Die Hard - a film which I am lead to believe is the ultimate Christmas film. I personally would preffer Love Actually or the original Santa Clause the Movie. You see in order for me to give a film a chance, it has to have a theme or a character or a setting which engages me from the off. In Love Actually I am engaged by the psychology of relationships (watch this space as one day I might have a book on this). In Santa Clause the movie its Father Christmas - who doesn’t like a film that features St Nick?
Perhaps I would stand a better chance of staying awake during the second of the Die Hard films - I am told this is set in an airport and airports have always fascinated me. I blame the ITV Fly on the wall documentary Airline which was always on TV whilst I was growing up. Yes if I gave all of the Die Hard movies ago, I’m pretty sure that 2 would be my favourite, based solely on its setting.
Whenever a film we love has a sequel, we will always have our favourite. I wonder which of the Home Alones you prefer? The choice is only between 1 & 2 though surely, as after that things became daft and predictable. For me the favourite has to be Home Alone 2. They both feature airports so I need to use a different Critera to solve this one. Home alone 2 features a bigger Christmas tree in it so Ill go for that.
Sometimes in our own lives we might get a sequel - many people these days have been married more than once, been on holiday to the same place multiple times and even given birth to more than one child. Less common but not unheard of are real life Trilogies, incidentally a situation we currently find ourselves part of in the UK.
Being in Lockdown 3.0 and seeing all the various sequels, trilogies and box sets on Netflix and Prime got me thinking about the lockdown trillogy and how I feel about them. Which did I prefer and why? Did they get better as the narrative unfolded?
Hands down the answer to that conundrum is Lockdown 1. It was a time when I felt safe. All business where closed without companies trying to shoehorn all of their staff into the Key Worker Criteria. People all pulled together and stayed at home, they reached out for one another and there was considerably less arguing about COVID’s existence, the impact of COVID, the importance of masks and many of the governments decisions. Oh and we had much better weather!
During the first lockdown we had BBQ’s, amazing walks, saw our Puppy grow, had campervan date nights and even camp outs on the drive. Clare even threw me a birthday party. Lockdown 3 seems at the moment to be a far cry from the fun and safe feeling of lockdown 1. We now find ourselves contending with a new strain, fear over the future both financially and health wise and fear for this country as people struggle to unite and agree on any one common goal or belief, which is terrifying as the only way to beat this virus is united.
I find reflection often helps and when I’m feeling low about this current lockdown, I like to look back at lockdown 1 to remind me how agile we were is entertaining ourselves whilst remaining safe. I guess for me that’s the main thing I hope people remember. Fun and safe aren’t mutually exclusive and you can have both together and in doing so we will beat this virus. You can stay at home and still have fun.

Lockdown - A Good Time to Start a Travel Vlog?
This year has been an interesting one if you are a travel Vlogger. Incidentally it is also the first year in which we embarked on our new Hobby of Travel Vlogging. Many people probably think that we might be regretting starting our YouTube channel this year. I on the other hand think this was the best time ever to begin. The lack of travel opportunities has opened a wealth of opportunities for us and helped us to discover what exactly we want to achieve with our channel, rather than just going out there and filming our adventures without any real true agenda.
So what is our agenda? What do we want to achieve from our channel? Our channel has 3 key aims and we like all of our videos to tick each of these boxes. The boxes we will always aim to tick in the quality control stage prior to upload is:
1) To educate - Possibly the smallest tick box, but we like our videos to have a few facts in them.
2) To inspire - We are very lucky to own a Campervan and this opens a lot of doors for us. It has made us realise the beauty of the country we live in and the wonders that you can see. We want to inspire others to love the places we have around us
3) To entertain - This is our primary focus. I studied for a degree in Theatre and wrote my dissertation about how I believe the internet represents the worlds largest stage. I love the fact that our Youtube channel gives us a potentially unlimited audience in which to perform to.
Lockdown has hugely influenced this agenda. If we had spent the whole year just creating travel videos, Educate and Inspire would have been much higher up the pecking order, as we wouldn’t have had the time to think about what was really important to us. In retrospect, I think this would have prevented our channel from growing too as I now believe that Entertainment is the key to engagement and causes the other two to follow.
The lack of travel has caused us to be creative and think outside the box about how we could still create content initially from home, laterly from a slightly wider area, returning to currently from home again. Lockdown 1 & 2 combined with a period of Furlough gave us a lot of time to watch other travel Vloggers which not only educated us on the direction we wanted our channel to go in but it also became the Muse for our show called Vloggerbox. Vloggerbox is our own spin on Gogglebox where we watch and comment on other Vlogs.
Vloggerbox ticks all of our boxes. It educates people on other channels they may enjoy which they haven’t found yet, seeks to inspire others to take up Vlogging and entertains through the format we have created and our over exaggerated personas.
So in truth, I for one am glad that we began our travel channel in the midst of a global pandemic that hampered many of our travel plans, because it enabled us to discover what was important to us, where our strengths lied and all importantly it gave us the perfect opportunity to grow Vloggerbox.
Die ersten Schritte wurden schon gemacht!
Der Rost wurde entfernt und er oder sie (Das Baby hat noch keinen richtigen Namen D:) wurde schön gesaubert, bis es glänzte.
Let’s go on an adventure
Our Journey Begins... 🚌...

He Converted A Cargo Van Into Basically The Best Thing Ever
He Converted A Cargo Van Into Basically The Best Thing Ever
When Reddit user zachboth quit his job back in 2014, he knew he wanted to pursue his passion — filmmaking. Knowing full well that the life of a videographer is rather nomadic, he decided that living and working out of a van sounded ideal.
But, friends, if you think he just bought a boring camper van and left it at that, you are sorely mistaken.
After purchasing the van, he gutted…
