Whirlwind summary of recent days
Last weekend (June 13th-16th), we took a trip with Rycho (one of the main leaders of Fusion in Czech) to Tachov (on the far west side of the country), where a new Fusion choir just started.
While there, we went with the Tachov Fusion kids to Germany, where they performed a concert for soldiers at an American military base. They also performed a concert in Tachov itself. Our main job while we were there was to build relationships and help wherever we were needed. The weekend was a blast, though it definitely tried our patience at times. Czechs just have a different way of doing life, and we got to see that firsthand.
We travelled back all day Monday.
Tuesday was spent preparing for camps.
On Wednesday, we had the Szturc family over to our flat for lunch (more about them later—they’re great).
On Thursday, we had camp band practice.
Friday evening, we went to Fusion Karvina’s end-of-the-year party at Rycho’s house.
We spent Saturday all together as a team—we toured a coal mine that has now been converted into a museum; Blessing hit her head on a zip line at the coal mine and had to get stitches; and we ended the day with a barbecue at Owl’s house.
On Sunday, we (the camp band) played music for church. Then, we had music practice for camp in the afternoon, and some girls from church came over in the evening for dinner and a movie.
Today (Monday), we five Američanki are spending time together to identify, reflect on, and celebrate what God has done thus far in the summer. Then in the afternoon, we’re going to Ostrava, where we will spend some time with the other JV interns there. This evening we will go to another concert in Ostrava.
Tomorrow we leave early in the morning for US team training! The first short-term team from the States will arrive, and we’ll spend the next few days teaching them how to do camps.
Praise God for the people in Czech who have so generously welcomed us in to their culture. Praise Him for the joyful fellowship my team and I are experiencing. Praise Him for the ways He has grown me personally, and the ways He has grown every member of our team.
Pray for diligence as we wrap up preparations for camp. Pray for energy as we begin camps. But ultimately, pray that Czech students would be reached with the gospel.
