Quick Maya tip: Check your saves
I'm currently working on an animation for the 11 Second Club, and I thought I'd take a break to share something I've learned about saves.
Make sure you check your save after you save.
After you make a save, open the scene you just saved, BUT DON'T CLOSE THE ONE YOU JUST SAVED, so that you basically have two of the exact same scene open.
Why?
I have had cases where I'll save, close Maya, then go back to my save later and the file or an object in it has become corrupt for one reason or another. It's good to check your last save, because if there's an issue when you open it, you can diagnose it with the previous window still open and then make a new save without potentially losing hours of work.
Even if you use incremental saves, this is still important. You could be making saves as you go along and have a whole string of corrupted saves if you don't check them as you go.
Hope that was helpful!
