Hedy Lamarr poses with her stand-in, Sylvia Hollis, during production of the MGM/Alexander Hall romantic comedy The Heavenly Body, 1944. Sylvia previously worked at MGM as a stand-in for Joan Crawford, who she resembled a great deal more than she did Lamarr. Crawford had left the studio for Warner Bros. the year before, resulting in Hollis changing her hair color from auburn red to dark brown and being assigned as Hedy’s camera double instead. Lamarr’s character in The Heavenly Body was named Vicky Whitley, hence the name “Vicky” embroidered on the front of her robe.
