Cornelia Boardman wrote of her nephew in a letter to her mother in 1829, “poor little John Frederick has had another turn with his teeth, he now has four coming, the Dr. gave him calomel yesterday & he appears better today, but his stomach is in a dreadful state, dear little pet he suffers a great deal & will till he gets all his teeth, Eliza says his Father suffered in the same way.” Calomel was a mercury chloride formula that was used to treat many different diseases in the 19th century. It was used in teething powders into the 1950s.

So have some Christmas Mercurial Knight Cookie/Salt Cellar Cookie. I'm under the impression people call this Mercellar, but I will be tagging all of them with Calomel, what I personally call this ship.

Also, the planning dolls. I wanted to draw a red, ethanol-thermometer-themed costume for MKC since his Oz one is so silly 😭

And the main characters are, left to right, Avery (They/Them) Piers (She/He) and Iris (She/Her) (second image is obv just Avery and Piers)

They're all lesbians (Avery is nonbinary and Piers is bigender, Iris is cis)

Iris, 19, is a changeling who tried to murder the original child she replaced. Spoiler alert he's still alive and plans to murder her. His name is hemlock (he/him) He's also transgender but struggles a lot with it and suffers a lot under his adoptive mother and he's aroace so I have a biiig bias towards him vvvv

Piers is 18 and ran away from home to transition and join the knights but was instead slapped into a bodyguard role for Avery which he hates... Has a shithead big brother named Roland

Avery is 17, an aristocrat who studies abnormalities. They're pretty blunt with the other two and kind of have a nasty personality but they love their friends even still (also definitely reeks of rich kid privilege even tho they end up getting that taken from them lol) they're the youngest but also the most skilled in magic.

Andddd they're friends with Calomel (she/her) who researches abnormalities as one day she climbed out of a blood red lake that was labeled an abnormality. She has no recollection of her life before she emerged from the lake at roughly preteen age. She's now in her mid 20's.

She's also aspec to me buuut that's not rlly a huge part of her story either way. At least not yet
