from a young age, kevin grew up on practically every sport one could name. though he eventually wound up focusing on honing his skills in one or two towards the latter half of his high school career, he still felt a rush of excitement being able to revisit any of those fields or courts just for the fun of it. even more so, getting to hang out with any of his bros at anytime, for any reason, was always a good time. 

as he was approaching the agreed meeting spot, the younger caught sight of a familiar figure up ahead. “yo, hyung! it’s so nice to see you!” kevin excitedly greeted the other, draping his arm around his shoulder (albeit, being slightly shorter). “you ready to show these fools who’s boss today??” he laughed, now facing the other as he jogged slightly ahead. 

her car was, much like odette herself, unreliable.   she might’ve not predicted the engine to blow, but to say it was UNEXPECTED would be an outright lie.   it’d seen better days, and it was well past its prime.   time, too.   knowing doesn’t make her any less stranded, though.   so, there she stands :    steam seeping through the hood, with herself leaning against a cracked window.   SHE COULD WALK.   but she could also wait it out     —     hoping that somebody, anybody, would drive by.   all she needed was a ride to the nearest payphone, not an arm and a leg…   JUST A FAVOUR.   and it’s one the universe damn refuses to offer without an ulterior motive attached.   the car that stops is familiar, and the man in it.   ODETTE DOESN’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE MAD.   what did she have to be mad about anyway?  he didn’t do a thing to her.   but anger comes quick as defence, no matter if justified or not.

IT’S A MISTAKE—the past better left alone, and them too. But there she is anyway, letting her ex-fiancé take her out on what she refuses to call a date. If it weren’t Arizona, she’d wish for rain. Putting rain checks into the literal sense. Unfortunately for her, the sun is high in the sky—insisting on ice cream, and jeans abandoned. It’s a heat that demands she wears a dress. Another thing she resents about this afternoon. Because now it looks like she’s trying and she’d hate to be seen as someone who tries.
