Sound Designer: You mean the cue that turns off her mic?
SM: Yeah that one.

The last time a SM has to call a difficult cue: HAHAHA!! NEVER AGAIN.
I'm running a show and about half one scene is a pre-recorded voice over, with actors giving lines in between. I've been given the option of whether I want it to be one long recording (one cue) or several. I'm not sure which to choose.
The two options fit two different scenarios, I think. It depends on how closely the dialogue needs to match the recording.
If you go with one long cue: do your actors need to be word-perfect & have exactly the same timing every night, or is there wiggle-room?
If you go with multiple cues: this puts the burden of responsibility squarely on your shoulders. With multiple cues, it’s all about the calling and being able to call the cues with the rhythm of the dialogue happening around them.
Personally, I would prefer multiple cues. What do the other SMs out there think? Also, any sound designers want to weigh in? neotrotsky q2qcomics studentsoundtechnician

THere was a video of a stage manager calling the end of the opening sequence for tony awards (the one with Neil Patrick) or the oscars or something when and it was crazy, and now I can't find the video!!!! CAN ANYONE ON TUMBLR PROVIDE A LINK TO THE VIDEO IF YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?!?!?
he is going crazy calling cameras and it's like "camera 1-30, when i call your number... 6!8!16!183!, etc."
