  apparently oval is a collective spearheaded by markus popp, or something. idk. to be perfectly honest, i probably would not have heard about this album if not for my good friend derek who actually keeps abreast of things with more of an experimental/classical bent to them. i don’t really know how to describe this album -- there’s some digital popping noises, some acoustic guitar strumming, some pizzicato string sounds, some beautiful singing in portuguese, some beautiful singing in spanish, whirring and swishing noises. the tag cloud on popp’s website reads: “Oval hybrid improv emergotronic hyperreal future folk Jazz glitch guitar Latin Laptop Lullaby loop pool Opera acoustic illusion sweatshop singer/songrider dreamix duo Bahia blind date metamelody” so if that doesn’t tell you what this is all about then how could i ever, idk.
