Web series, web series, web series! We love them and if you don’t you are so late to the party that it’s practically the next day! Here at HeyMikeyATL.com, we have seen just about everyone of them, but one series in particular is now near and dear to our hearts–TWISTED!
Rahim Brazil and Toni BryceFilmed and directed by Rahim Brazil, Twisted, the series begins with a woman being dumped from a car in the middle of nowhere. We soon learn that woman is Vanessa (Toni Bryce) a counselor at a local counseling center who runs a support group. There she is instrumental in the lives of the community, in particular, three young men–Nick, Alex, and Star.
Nick is an all-around good guy who is looking for love with the wrong guy, Robert (Robert Brown). Alex turns tricks on the Atlanta stroll, desperate to take care of his drug addict older brother, Marcus (Chris June). Star (Siren Chanel), however, is stuck in the support group as part of his probation. Still, he has not cleaned up his act, moonlighting as a “delivery boy” for drug dealers Duke (November) and Money (Deon Christen).

Herein lies the motif and tapestry of Twisted as each of these characters’ lives and story lines intertwine to make an “experience”–not your typical web series. Rahim Brazil has brilliantly rallied together mostly fresh, raw talent and seasoned it with his own experience, style, and decision to become a true show runner. When you watch the series you will be amazed by the aerial shots, visual aesthetic, and most of all stellar acting. We are particularly impressed with the talent of Toni Bryce–a name we are sure will be a household one very soon!

Last night we attended a private screening of Twisted at The Hangout, a local safe space and charitable organization for the LGBT youth of Atlanta. There, the entire cast gathered with their family and friends as Rahim presented the first three episodes of the series. Attendees included Anthony Bawn (director of H.I.M., Blackville, Cheetah In August, and District), Brandon Karson (H.I.M., Triangle, District), Cardo Ricardo (Pharm: The Series), and Thomas Mackey (About Him: The Revolution, Uncle Joey, Last Night In ATL).
Hosted by our very own Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning, the screening was followed by a Q&A with the cast. The message reiterated from the cast overall was one of unity, support, and storytelling; that LGBT stories are viable and must be told! As Chris June so simply stated, “It’s about us…” Kudos Rahim Brazil, Kudos!
Be sure you come out this Sunday, to the Suite Lounge (375 Luckie St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313) for an all-black party and public screening for Twisted!
“It’s About Us!” Rahim Brazil’s (@rahimbrazil) “Twisted” is TURNT! Web series, web series, web series! We love them and if you don't you are so late to the party that it's practically the next day!

Is there anything Rahim Brazil cannot do? In the past we have referred to him as a jack of all trades, and that still holds true. Well now our favorite Web Star has made his directorial debut with a web series written and directed by him alone! Twisted tells the story of a group of men and women whose lives become entangled–for better or worse–via their interactions through a local counseling…
