Here she is, the summation of many hours of brainstorming, planning, and ultimately screaming at smooshed clay frosting at 4am: my carousel cake pony! 🎠 🍰 I made her for @dolly_lolly_playtime ‘s #cakecustoms2022 collab, which challenged us to pick a cake and make a custom based on it! I knew I wanted to make another frosting pony, and this time I went wild with the rainbows! Despite all her roadblocks, I am incredibly pleased with her. I used the pastel rainbow pack by @shimmerlocks for her hair (swapping out the red for cotton candy pink as I saw @tiffygh do, great idea!), and she is on a @hqg1c base. I added the star chips and glitter on a bit of a whim, because I love stars, and both she and the stars glow in the dark!! First coat done! And first mishap - trimmed a bit of her tail removing the failed attempt to protect her tail from paint. Nooooo! 😭 I can see how I could have fixed the tape, NOW that it’s covered in paint. Ah well! I took these photos when I knocked off last night around 2am, but I’m cheating and posting them today so I don’t have to hustle to take any tonight! 🤣 I like to try and paint two ponies at once, since it allows pony A to dry while I work on pony B, so I’m working on my Peachy rehair at the same time. But seeing all of that rainbow paint, I thought… can’t I make another rainbow pony? So I dug around in the bag of G4 ponies I won from the awesome @yodawgiheardyoulikeponies_ ‘s giveaway a couple years ago, and found these two Pinkies! One is an early release, but she got chewed on, and one is from the dollar baggies at Target! So I’m giving them a fun, easy, spotty-dotty kind of paint! I gotta say I was inspired by @colorscapesartponies (even tho they look nothing like hers 🤣) because she mentioned how calming mandelas are to paint, and I thought - hey! I should try that! But, yknow, with no organization whatsoever. 🤣 Looking at the photos, I’m gonna try to narrow down Peachy’s other hip, so they’ll match better! Phew, I’m running so late on this project! This is my starting base for @dolly_lolly_playtime ‘s #cakecustoms2022 collab! This lovely pony from #hqg1c has been haired for… weeks, at this point. And tonight I buckled down, gathered my paints, and… reorganized my jewelry bits. 🤣 It’s a mental work in progress, okay!? I’m making my way there! Coats number…. 3 and 4 I think? Gosh, I’m losing count! I’m struggling to get the cheap craft paint looking smooth, opaque and not covered in brush marks, and it’s a battle! 🤣 The last picture is the nail buffer I’m trying out; someone mentioned sanding their paint, and I thought WOW! Genius! So I gave it a little buffing, and the pink became VERY ugly, but I think that’s for the best; I want it to look somewhat smooth at least!
