1/2 Hey there! I'm a latino "truscum" and thought I should clear up a couple of things. Being transgender has one criterion, that's sex dysphoria. A disconnect between how your brain thinks your body is and what your body actually looks like. That's the only thing. Transitioning is a life-saving procedure and it needs to be medicalized. Being medicalized will let more insurance see it as a legitimate issue and help more trans people get the help they need.
2/2 if it’s not medicalized, it would be considered purely cosmetic instead of the life-saving change that it really is. Because GID (Gender Identity Disorder or sex dysphoria) is a medical condition, many trans people, myself included, are having their hormones covered by insurance and lower the cost of transitional surgery
Hm, yeah, so, nope, not having a debate about this here. Trans people without dysphoria exist, and they are no less trans. Dysphoria is not our sole defining characteristic, and is not what should be used to ‘validate’ the medical procedures some of us need. That is all I’m saying about it - do not try to say more about this issue to me, I will block you.
