I think everyone has a place they like to go to on a fairly regular basis, a place that feels comfortable and easy. For us that place is CafĂ© Hon. I first discovered this restaurant when we lived in Hampden and I walked all over the neighborhood with my babies in a double stroller. I noticed how quirky the dĂ©cor was and I loved it from afar (having already been scarred by previous experiences trying to eat in a restaurant with babies.) Years later, I took my oldest daughter there for a burger and a talk about the facts of life. (Okay, not the best idea. Her response was âGross. Now I canât eat.â) As my three daughters got older we would go to CafĂ© Hon for lunch occasionally, loving the menu items like French fries and gravy. We eventually moved from Hampden but my entire family finds its way back to âthe Honâ to celebrate everything from birthdays to bridal showers (and often there are balloons and other decorations already waiting for us, courtesy of Denise, Lisa, Chris and Michelle.) To say that they all accommodate us is an understatement. Friday nights are the best. The owner, Denise, welcomes us like old friends. Lisa or Chris appear with our wine as soon as they see us enter. We feel like we are among family but in a good way. (Just kidding family heh heh.) The atmosphere is relaxed, warm and fun. Every Friday on his way out to work my husband will say âHon tonight?â to which I always reply âI hope so!â
