Starting January 1, 2018 all cannabis products must be tested for microbiological contaminants including mold, yeast, Salmonella, E. Coli, Aspergillus, and more as required by MAUCSRA. In the first picture below you can see mold-the big green fuzzy spots, and yeast-the bright blue smaller spots, which is a prime example of cannabis that would fail the microbiological test and not be valid for public consumption. Having a quality dehumidification system is key for indoor growing to control the moisture that may grow. It has been found that using alkaline water can assist in reducing the risk of powdery mildew and mold.
