Cable threatens to put a knife in Wade's dick when Wade hugs him.

As every Wolverine knows, Wade enjoys being knifed. And forked. Especially in the dick.

Cable's flirting, offering to fuck him (up), but Wade declines to go through with it.

Cable didn't leave Wade (contrary to comics canon, for once). He wanted to stay. Even if he wouldn't admit it.

Wade isn't shy and doesn't have cold feet. I think it's a rain check, a promise, for Tomorrow:

I love ya, tomorrow, You're always, a day away

Cable's not now, he's tomorrow. He's the sun--and Scott's son--that comes out tomorrow. Assholes of all kinds get him going; Wade promises to pound him like a mating drum.

Wade is Batman, the Night to Cable's day. Wade needed to clear out the sorrow--wait for the gray rainy day to pass, ie fix the loss of Cable's family--before there can be a better Tomorrow.

DP2 is a family film: everyone gets their family back. In turning back time, Wade gives up Tomorrow: literally, giving up his life to save Russell; metaphorically, to save Vanessa by literally giving up Cable. He does it to put things right for everyone else, regardless of the cost to himself. He gives up his own future and family to fix everyone else's, not because he needs it but because they do. It's a reference to comics Cable, who gives up his own life to turn back time and change the past for a better future. Like Wade does for Russell to change the future. Like comics Wade constantly pushes people away because he doesn't want to endanger friends or family. Like movie Wade did in pushing Vanessa away after becoming Deadpool.

Wade knows he matters, that's why he pushes to save Russell, it's why he gives up Cable. But in order to "matter" in that way, his own wants have to not matter at all. He knows he's a hero, that he matters; but what he actually wants is to matter that much to someone else: be saved back. Cable did that for Wade, and so did Logan. Even if they never said as much: don't ask, don't tell is a main theme of the Cable&Deapool comics.

Lack of acknowledgement never made anyone less queer. For two people who say they don’t need each other, they keep making a lot of stupid sacrifices for each other. There's always a pretext, a subtext, they never just COME OUT and SAY IT.

Definitionally, that acknowledges there's more than meets the eye. You just gotta look at it askance....queer-eyed...to see what's really going on.

Cable's the sun; Logan is Wade's anchor, his other (co)star, a different sun. In the future, they hook up with Cable. It's not a competition, it's a triumvirate, but that sure won't keep them from pounding each other. All's fair in love and war, yeah?

“You’re kidding me,” was all Scott said at first.

Across from him, seated in the loveseat—the most comfortable seat in this godforsaken place they called a school and a mansion—were Wade and Nathan. Wade was gently bouncing James, who had decided the moment they stepped inside the mansion that he wanted to throw a tantrum. It made negotiations far more problematic, but it had the added bonus of bringing every compassionate adult within hearing distance to the front door.

“You said that out loud,” Nathan said. “These aren’t negotiations.”

“You are underestimating the child-stealing powers of this organization,” Wade said. He turned his head and saw a flash of blue dart back around the corner from where they were seated in one of the many living spaces around the mansion.

Everyone else knew about the baby, because Nathan hadn’t exactly been subtle in his interrogations. The two main pieces of this puzzle had been left in the dark, and the fresh-faced grandparents that were younger than Wade reacted as well as he predicted when Nate finally broke the news.

“You’re kidding,” Scott said, raising his finger triumphantly, like it had just occurred to him.
