you take a bite of your burger, followed by a sip of coke. you’re seated by the benchers along with chenle, who is munching away at his own burger.

“look,” chenle says, lifting his chin to gesture towards the field. you turn in said direction, to see nayeon, who seems to be actively trying to engage in conversation with taeyong, who seems to be actively trying to avoid conversation at all costs. you smile at the sight - the whole nayeon and taeyong saga has been one of the biggest gossip topics in the entire school. everyone knows how diehard of a crush nayeon has on taeyong, and the girl doesn’t even try to be subtle about it.

“she’s kind of crazy, don’t you think? i admire how she doesn’t get tired of chasing taeyong around like that,” chenle comments, taking another bite of his burger. you tilt your head, continuing to watch as nayeon’s cute bunny smile never leaves her lips, despite taeyong’s very obviously cold reactions to her attempts at holding his attention. you shrug, taking another sip of your cola before returning with, “i mean, i understand her. when you love someone, you don’t just stop. ever. even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy... even then. especially then!” you say, turning to meet eyes with chenle, who is just staring at you with judging eyes.

you roll your eyes, throwing a tissue at his face. “i think she’s cool for pursuing what she wants to, without giving a hoot about what anyone else has to say,” you add on, eyes on the last fry between the both you. just as you reach out for it, chenle’s hand swoops in and snags it away. you frown, “hey! i was gonna eat that!”

chenle looks at you with a knowing smirk, sticking his tongue out to lick the fry. “sure, here you go,” he says, holding the fry out. you scrunch in disgust, “people would think i’m crazy if i were to eat that,” you say munching down on your burger with a huff.

“in line with what someone once said,” chenle begins, shoving the fry into his mouth, “you’re going to keep loving me even when people think you’re crazy, and you’re going to love me even more, when people think you’re crazy,” he concludes, smiling proudly.

you throw another tissue at him, rolling your eyes, trying your best to ignore the heat that’s rushing to your face.

        Desde que era um bebezinho, a beleza da princesa já era comentada no castelo. As damas da rainha suspiravam ao imaginar a aparência da garotinha quando amadurecesse, afinal, o rei e a rainha faziam um casal com beleza extraordinária. Cabelos escuros e grandes olhos azuis eram o que elas profetizavam; uma beleza rara, capaz de iniciar ou terminar com guerras. As damas do castelo estavam certas em suas previsões, e Isobel acabou herdando todos os genes de sua mãe, sendo incrivelmente parecida com a mulher mais velha e isso era notado por qualquer pessoa que as vissem juntas.

        A infância da princesa não foi algo marcante. Como segunda filha e primeira mulher, Isobel não tinha as mesmas responsabilidades que seu irmão mais velho. Passava várias horas ao lado de sua mãe, aprendendo habilidades femininas com a rainha e suas damas ou brincando com suas primas, apesar de não se sentir confortável ao lado delas. Simplesmente não gostava da companhia das outras meninas, achando-as infantis demais para uma princesa de seu nível. Preferia a companhia de seus irmãos para as brincadeiras, fazendo o trio dos filhos de Nahia e Andrev inseparáveis.

        Isobel sempre foi muito próxima de seus pais. Sua intimidade com a rainha era infinitamente maior do que com a do rei, mas a princesa o via como seu herói, um marido exemplar e um exemplo a ser seguido. Procurava um dia ter metade da inteligência e astúcia do pai, e conforme foi crescendo, em seu tempo livre, estudava história e algumas línguas estrangeiras. Não era comum ver mulheres bem instruídas no castelo, mas Isobel queria mudar isso. Estudava as escondidas, no calão da noite na biblioteca, apenas ela, os livros e uma vela. Porém, continuava com a ingenuidade de uma criança.

        Chegando no começo de sua adolescência, a mulher que um dia se tornaria estava começando a dar os primeiros sinais. Seu corpo tornou-se mais curvilíneo, suas feições mais maduras, assim como sua personalidade. E isso chamava a atenção de muitos homens, porém, apenas dois chamaram a atenção da princesa. Gwilym e Trefor, dois cavaleiros amigos e não muito mais velhos que ela. Nada disso se passava de paixões platônicas, mas Isobel sentia um carinho especial pelo dois, mas nada que pudesse chamar de verdadeiro amor. Entretanto, seus cavaleiros foram convocados para a cruzada que seu tio iria liderar e, infelizmente, não voltaram. Isso teve um grande impacto na princesa, fazendo com seu ódio pelos árabes começasse a florescer.
