A) I need a floorplan to keep track of all of this.
B) Kudos to Matt again for juggling all these narrative threads and balancing focus so deftly!
I love Sam's approach to magic.
*casts Dispell Magic* "I know! I'm as surprised as you!"
What are the odds that they leave the immovable rod behind by accident?
as absolutely nerve wracking as ep 20 was, I really do love and appreciate how it went from Generic Heist Movie, to Mission Impossible, to fucking HOME ALONE, to Indiana Jones and the Tomb of Fuck Around and Find out, real quick π€£
so much fuckery, in the space of one episode. god I love Matt and these chaos incarnate players of his β€οΈπ€£

Wild theory about Ashton's backstory & ability set. Spoilers up to C3Ep20 below
Ashton & the Nobodies were burglarizing Jada Hexom's estate. Because it was there? Because of the challenge? Or were they hired by a rival to try and swipe some goods in a rich people's game? Hydroga?
Ashton got gravely injured and left behind in the aftermath. I don't remember if Taliesin clarified if Ashton was caught by Hexom first & then fell, or caught after they fell?
But whatever they snagged, they got left holding the bag (of gold, and whatever relic they swiped.) The gold was used to 'patch up' their unique Earth Genasi body, like stitches for stone. But the head injury was so severe, Milo had to improvise some sort of magical patch. The 'relic' was used, and I imagine the relic was one of two things:
A luxon beacon. How?? Well, if Milo inspected it long enough, maybe Luxon was like "heehee use me to fix your friend." and possibly even gave instructions. Luxon would do that, since the Kryn dynasty is too busy worshiping it rather than studying it like it wants
This would mean Hydroga's empty & broken Beacon frame was basically what was leftover from The Nobody's botched burgle. Imagine selling that off to Hydroga to recoup some funds.
This also explains a lot of Ashton's rage abilities. They're all dunamancy-based.
A less exciting but still fascinating suggestion: Another piece of the 'Fae stone' that Imogen is currently obsessing over. This would be more cohesive way of tying everyone's stories together into the narrative Matt has been weaving. And its properties could be different, giving Ashton different set of powers that just happen to be Dunamantic.
I'm still favoring the 'Ashton has a beacon in their head!' theory, but would totally support the 'Fae stone' suggestion instead.
Indy, MI and now Beetlejuice! Lotta movie references tonight!
What are the odds that the earing is in Hytroga's pocket the whole time?
