C.S. Lewis Quotes -Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain but it’s more common and also more difficult to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden. It is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say “My heart is broken.” Read more at - https://minimalistquotes.com
I'd definitely read your Colter Shaw fics! Also, request a Colter Shaw × Reader fic. Maybe the reader is Colter first love, and she and him break up due to some issues he has, and they bump into each other during a reward that he's doing. They catch up, and he kind of admits how he's been missing her, and she's very like guarded, but eventually, he charms her, and they decide to go on a date and see where it goes.

"We need to talk." those four words were all it took for (y/n) to be concerned. Colter had been distant since he started taking those reward jobs a few weeks back. Maybe he needed to tell (y/n) how serious an upcoming job was, and didn't want her to get in harms way... that had to be it, right?
"Look, i um, i don't think we should be together, anymore " you look up at him as he tries to not look directly at you. "But, why? Is it something i did? Or rather something i didn't do?" he chuckles as you pace around in the trailer that he recently got, waiting for an answer from him. "No, of c-course not I," he hums in frustration then continues, "I have some personal issues that i don't think you'd wanna be around for when they get resolved. B-but i still very much care about you," he reaches out to grab your hands as he tries to explain his problems but you quickly snatch them away before he has a chance to hold them hostage.
"No." puzzled by your outburst, he tries to give a fake apology but you quickly wipe away a tear that has suddenly appeared, before he notices. Your lips quiver as you continue your sentence. "No, Colter. Y-you don't get to do this to me, not after 3 years of our relationship has gone by." you back away from him as you blink to let the tears flow freely like a waterfall, not caring anymore if he sees them. "(Y/n)," you shake your head as you see Colter trying to block your exit, doing his best to not let you leave.
Yeah, Colter may have been stronger than you, but that didnt mean he could get away with hurting you like this. "I can't do this anymore with you, Colter. I just, i can't." "Can we at least, still be friends?" You laugh in anger as you try not to raise your voice any higher than it currently already is. "Friends? You want to be friends? Colter if i wanted to be 'just friends' with you, i would have said no to being your girlfriend." You close your eyes to try to calm your nerves as you take a quick breath, doing your best to stop a migraine from forming before continuing. "I can't be friends with you Colter. I just, i can't." "But i still care about you, (y/n)!" You laugh in his face. "If you cared about me, you would have left me the burden when you asked me to be your girlfriend!"
You were now shouting, not giving a damn anymore if your voice reached anyone else. "Lose my number." you say to his face as you push past him to walk out, holding back a choke as you do your best to keep your head up high, getting in your vehicle and driving off.
You let your tears fall, not even attempting to stop them as you catch the freeway home, hoping to never see Colter, ever again.
𓆩ᥫ᭡𓆪 Present Day 𓆩ᥫ᭡𓆪
Stepping into the office building that you work for, you made your way to the elevators and pressed the button. It opened to you a moment later, letting you step inside and press a floor number. After it let you off you walk to the front desk and sat in the chair, signing in on the computer.
You worked for a small business office downtown and luckily enough, no one was in yet as the office opened at 8. You were always the first person in the door – on most days – and sometimes the last to leave when the office closes at 6.
After signing in and printing out papers for your boss to sign you get a few meetings set up for your co-workers to have ready when they get here.
A few hours go by, only having a few cliets come and go, with no time at all. That is, until a certain familiar brown haired guy comes in, asking for information on a cliet and co-worker. I realize its Colter and say hi. "Colter?" his head turns to me and we lock eyes. "(y/n)? hey, how've you been?" "i'm, good, been working. you still doing those reward jobs?" he nod his head. "yeah, yeah i am. you know, you're still beautiful since the last time we saw each other." your cheek reddened, remembering the breakup like it was yesterday. "y-yeah, i am, i uh, i try to keep up with my routine, everyday." "you know, we should uh, we should catch up, once i've collected the reward." you grab some papers from your desk and walk to the printer room.
Hearing footsteps behind you, you realize Colters following you. "Colter, why are you following me?" "i wanna see how you're doing." you shut the door behind you as Colter steps in. "this is not the time nor the place to be having this conversation. i'm trying to do my job." you say to his face as you step to the copier and punch in a few numbers then press start. you hear him move around behind you as you close your eyes to try and keep a migraine from forming. "i," you shake your head to figure out his motive. "i don't know about that Colter. Our last interaction wasn't too pleasant."
"Yeah i know, and i feel terrible about it. honestly." "really? you felt terrible?" you chuckle in response as you grab the papers from the copier and leave the room, Colter still hot on your heels as he follows you back to the front desk. "what do you want from me, Colter?" you say, turning your attention to him. "I want to catch up, and maybe, another chance? if its possible..." you sigh as you settle yourself back into the chair. "i don't know. i'm really busy this week. projects to finish, cliets to please."
you push him aside as a client walks through the doors and you help them out. you throw a "we'll talk about this later." in his face before ushering the client to a quiet and private room, talking to them about the prices and plans.
A few hours later after the office has closed and your boss has left, you are the only one still here, getting things finished up so you can leave for the day.
Grabbing your keys and phone, you slip your bag off your chair along with your pullover and head to the back door. You pull the door close behind you and lock it. Grabbing your car keys from your purse, you get into your tahoe and turn the engine on then leave the premises.
It only takes about 12 minutes to get to your home from work, so you decide to stop at a late night food truck down from your house and get some tacos. You pay the woman then get back into your car and head home.
After you get inside and make sure to lock the door behind you – due to previous habits – you put everything down on the kitchen island and dig into your food.
Just when you get almost done eating your food, you hear a few hurried knocks at your door. Worried, you look through the peephole of your door and see Colter standing there with a gunshot to his left shoulder so you quickly open the door for him. "Colter, what happened to you?" you quickly usher him in and help him sit at the kitchen table. Scanning your eyes over his shoulder, you notice a fragment of a bullet lodged between his collarbone and the blades of his shoulder. "how did you get shot?" he chuckles for a minute before answering, "well, i uh, i was on a job, looking for a missing camera man and a reporter who had some serious information on shooting that, uh, happened a few years ago and their boss said that they never came in to work the past 3 days, which he said was very unlike them to not miss a day of work," you go to your kitchen and grab the hiddened first-aid kit box in your bottom cabinet and take it back to where Colter is.
He continues to talk about the job while you fish out the bullet fragment. "and uh, i had a run in with the person who took them hostage. they had more fire power than i did, so i had to flee and you were the first person i could think of to help me out." "right, so after you were shot in shoulder, the only person you could ever think of to help you out with this situation, is me? what about bobby, or velma & teddi? or maybe even your sister?" you stand from your sitting position and sit your hands on your hips. "y-yeah well, velma and teddi had some business to take of with bobby, and reenie, who you forgot has other more serious cases to deal with and my sister, who chewed me out for breaking up with you, has classes all day long, so you were my only solid option."
You take your gloves off and throw them in the trash before taking a moment to yourself. "i really missed you, (y/n). truly, i did. and i made a mistake breaking up with you." with his good hand, he reaches out to grab your shaking hands to still them. "please, look at me." you keep your head down for a moment before looking up at him. "i'm really sorry for what happened five years ago. honest to god, i am. my sister hasn't stopped chewing me out since. and i made a complete fool of myself. please just," he breathes in and out then continues. "let me make this right. we catch up and show you how sorry i am for that day, and if you're still unsure afterwards, then you'll never hear from me ever again."
You consider the option, letting you mind work its way around things before finally making a decision. "fine. one date. but if i don't like the outcome, i never wanna see your face ever again." "deal. done." he stands up and open his arms to let you settle between them and wrapping his good arm around your waist, kissing the top of your head.
A few days later after picking a day and time, and letting Colter's shoulder heal, you both meet up at an Italian place in downtown, making sure to drive separately just in case.
Its somewhat fancy, but also somewhat casual so you made sure to look presentable. You turn off the engine and sit in your car until Colter comes.
He pulls up a few minutes later, parking in the spot beside you. He then gets out and you follow suit, making sure you have everything then lock your vehicle.
"hi. you made it." you somewhat smile as he leans in for a hug and smiles back. Remembering the good parts of the relationship, you knew he always smelled good and made sure to look his best when daye nights approached.
He opens the door to let you in and follows behind you to the host. "uh, reservation for Shaw." the lady checks her list and sees the name. "Right this way." we follow her to a table where she lets us know that someone will be with us shortly.
You take our seats and have a look at the menu while you wait. you clear your throat to get Colters attention before speaking up, "so uh, i see the shoulder has healed nicely." he nods his head. "yeah it has. had to wear a sling for the past 5 days, but its good." you smile at him then continue looking at the menu.
The waiter comes by and gets your drink orders and an appetizer then heads to the kitchen. You and Colter talk about his previous jobs, and your job as a front desk worker.
The appetizer and drinks then come out not long after. You tell her your main dish order and she goes and puts it in. While you wait, you share the appetizer with Colter then decide to talk serious business. "so um, i like how this date is going, so far." "so far, huh?" you give a light chuckle at his words then take a sip of your water. "yes, so far." he grabs your hand then looks you in your eyes. "(Y/n), i would really like to make it up to you, after this. not just have dinner and a conversation. why don't you," he licks his lips then continues. "why don't you come by my trailer? maybe we can talk more serious things. instead of in an Italian restaurant. with onlookers everyone. we'll have some actual privacy to talk about our feelings. hell, i'll even let you yell at me for how i was the last time. what do you say?"
As your about to speak up, the main dishes come out, forcing you and Colter to quiet your inner thoughts. You take a sip of your water and dig in as your brain runs around in thoughts at what he said.
After you eat, Colter pays the bill – such a gentleman – and you both head out to your car. He stops you before you get too far, grabbing your hands. "i'm serious, about what i said earlier. come back to my trailer, see how sorry i am." "i-i don't know about this, Colter." he sighs as he tucks a piece of your hair back behind your ear. "i'll never stop apologizing to you, for how much of an asshole i was." he reaches up to brush away a stray tear with his thumb, forcing you to look into his eyes. Reluctantly, you agree. "okay, i'll come. but don't remember what i said." "yeah, i haven't." "okay. i'll follow you, then." "okay." you get in your respective vehicles and follow Colter to his trailer.
It only takes about 10 minutes to get their, familiarizing yourself with the inside before putting your tahoe in park. You step out and close the door behind you then walk up to the trailer. Colter unlocks the door and lets you in first then pulls the door to behind him. "it still looks the same." you say as you stand against the counters. Colter stands in front of you, staying quiet to let you gather your thoughts. "yeah, it is."
Crossing your arms, you give yourself a moment of silence before speaking up. "You um, you look good Colter. You alway have." he smiles at your words, walking closer to you. he pushes another stray hair behind ear and cups your cheek. "i'm really, really, really sorry i made an ass of myself, five years ago." he leans in then stops, "i shouldn't have done that. i've been thinking about you nonstop since." he cups your other cheek with his free hand and looks you in your eyes. "C-colter," he closes the remaining space between the two of you then says, "let me do this. let me apologize the way i should have, all those years ago. let me make it right, please." you look up at him and see sincerity in his eyes, and decide to let him show you how sorry and sincere he was.
He leans down and pressing his lips to yours, relieving the good moments between you – especially like this – as you unfold your arms and let them wrap around his waist. He moves one hand to let rest at your side, bringing you closer him. He backs up just enough to let you jump up and wrap your legs around his waist. Grabbing onto your thighs, he makes sure he has a good grip on you before making his way to his bed, reaching for the bifold door and shutting it behind him.
The rest of the night is filled with Colter making you feel good along with moans and grunts that are heard throughout the trailer.
