Social Media Blog Post
The readings on social media were intriguing because they offered a perspective that most students don’t typically consider. Social media (especially sites like Twitter and Facebook that can function as a sort of daily journal) is a very “spur of the moment” phenomenon for most users. What they lack is the wherewithal to analyze and consider the rhetoric placed before them. The readings did an awesome job at thoroughly explaining various thought processes in which one may consider their purpose for posting. It also summons one to consider which app they prefer and for which reasons. While some people like to engage in online banter, others simply prefer to scroll through a nice series of photos they find aesthetically pleasing (like tumblr users) while others may utilize photos to help tell a story and keep a list of memories. Social media is extremely powerful, extremely widespread, seemingly easy, yet very complex. Awesome reads!
