-she’d been in his home for hours, looking in all the places she shouldn’t and helping herself to things that weren’t hers; matteo wouldn’t mind though, she told herself. not when he knew it was her. how she’d gotten in there wasn’t important, only what she was there to do. now the sun had gone down she turned on one of the lamps in his office so she could better read the book she’d plucked from the shelf. with her legs flung over the arm of his favoured chair and a glass of mature brandy in her hand, she flicks lazily through the pages, glancing at the door constantly and wondering just when in the hell he was going to make his appearance-
