As a child, Theo had been consistently flustered. Always looking for the next thing to do or the next word to say, so often preoccupied by multiple tasks that he failed in every single one of them. It had taken years for him to focus his attention, to realise that staying calm allowed him to be more productive and successful in whatever he was trying to achieve. But that didnât mean, on occasion, he didnât immediately fall back into his old ways. All it took was one thing catching him off-guard, one small thing going wrong, and he seemed to revert back to the panicked child he used to be, desperate for a parent to laugh affectionately and tell him to take a breath. His parents werenât here now though, and he had managed to leave a tube of expensive paint in the grass beneath the old oak tree. He felt sure it would still be there, despite darkness beginning to engulf the grounds. He couldnât afford a new tube, and it was such a beautiful blue. He would never be able to find it in the dark. He cursed himself, wishing he had paid more attention while he was studying the Summoning Charm. One spell and he could find the tube from the comfort of his own dorm room. He hurried down a narrow staircase, not feeling the paintbrush behind his ear slipping until it was too late. He heard it hit the stone steps and paused to watch as it rolled out of reach, descending the spiral staircase faster than he could ever hope to do so. He let out a huff of breath, continuing in his journey and only stopping again when he saw a girl standing at the bottom. His paintbrush came to a halt at her feet and he smiled shyly, a blush creeping to his cheeks. âIâm so sorry...â He apologised breathlessly, pushing his blue hair back from his face. âI was in a rush, it fell...â @lucreceallairesâ
