we had our first session of 2023 last week; still having a good time in the Earth Demesne hexcrawl

mementos of my time at Lyra, a very beloved job I left earlier this month :')

I had such a vivid image in my mind for this collection of prompts: A traveller venturing across a desolate field bearing a lantern filled with lava. I pictured that, and immediately I wanted to know who this lantern-bearer was and where he was heading with and why. This adventure is my effort to answer that question!

Probably the concept would have been better suited to a small zine or pdf than a 1PD in which I insist on including *some* amount of drawing, but I DID NOT HAVE THE TIME and so elected not to stress about it. :>

I'm participating in peachtober! Rather than a drawing a day, though, I'm grouping the prompts into sets of 3 + designing a wee 1-page dungeon/adventure around each set! For this very first entry, I interpreted "cowboy" as relating to the gold rush.

as a matter of Good DM Philosophy I don't let myself get too preoccupied with NPCs, but I'd be lying if I said this kid didn't grow on me in a special sorta way over the past few years. gonna miss our little rogue retainer while he's away 💙
